We had a great turnout to welcome in “2019”.

Sounds like a great party to me!

Jim Walker was a woodworker by

trade. He will be doing a demon-

stration of his talents for the

Thursday group at the end of Janu-

ary or the beginning of February.

We are looking forward to it. Jim

enjoys playing Crib, Trivia, and

Word search puzzles.

Allan Witzke was a carpenter by

trade. He enjoys Crib, Kings in

the Corner and learning new Card

Games. Allan is Patti’s father-in-

law. Nice to have you with us!

Our deepest condolences to the family of

Dorothy Mazurik. We lost Dorothy, January 16th.

She had been a member of High Steppers for 11 years.

Dorothy always made everyone feel special, and gave

little gifts to people. We will miss her so much.

The day was always better when Dorothy was there.

Rest in Peace Dear Lady

We had to say goodbye to two amazing folks who have

been with the High Steppers for 6 years. Thursdays will

not be the same. Ken & Betty Carson started as Sum-

mer Volunteers with us in 2001. Then they joined as

members in 2013. Due to failing health, Ken is in care.

Betty recently fell and broke her arm. We hope that

she is healing well, and the High Step-

pers send their best regards to both you

and Ken. Drop by for coffee when you

are feeling better Betty.

We wished farewell to Gord in December. He has

been our right-hand man for the six years that we

have been at Winakwa Community Centre. All the

best Gord, drop in for a few goodies one day.

We have been doing a number of crafts for our Valentines Day Parties on February 13th &14th.

We have made “Love Bug” cards, Hershey Kiss Mice, and Bookmarks.

We are also going to be treated to some homemade Italian cooking,

as Gina is going to surprise us with a special dish to celebrate.

We have been experiencing an increased interest in our program by members of the community, so we are looking at opening the club on a third day of the week.

We applied for a grant through the Federal Government’s New Horizons For Seniors Program for assistance to start a third day. We will be hearing about whether we have been lucky enough to receive funding to help us get this third day started some-time in March.

If we do start a third day of programming we will need more volunteer help to do so. If you, or someone you know may have some time on their hands that they could spare to help us out, please give us a call.

We are looking for a few new board members, some more drivers, bakers and soup mak-ers. The club is growing, which means there are always jobs that need to be done. We fundraise as much as we can to help with expenses and we always need new ideas and people willing to do the work to be able to provide this wonderful program to Seniors in this Community.

If you have any ideas on ways to help, please let us know. Thanks

We would like to thank the “Manitoba Municipal Relations Community Support Small Grants

tainers come in to play for us over the next few months. We hope that you will enjoy the en-

tertainers that will be coming to play for us. So, get up and dance, sing along to the songs

and enjoy their talents.
