DESCRIPTION

‘Internationalisation’ and ‘globalisation’ are two buzz words for universities around the world: they were and remain key themes behind the Bologna Process that has driven the restructuring of European higher education. The desire to attract international students has encouraged many European universities to introduce programmes delivered entirely in English, especially at graduate level. However, many students (and agents) still only consider the traditional Anglo-Saxon countries for university programmes. This presentation explores why agents should consider broadening their horizons to include a selection of European universities in their portfolio. Furthermore, the European Parliament has dramatically increased funding for two major initiatives (Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+) targeted to research and student mobility. The budget envelopes for both programmes will now grow considerably through 2020, rising 30% for Horizon 2020 to a total of €78.6 billion. Erasmus+ will grow by 40% over the same period to a total of €14.7 billion. For more details on this development, please see our article "EU ministers conclude €93 billion funding arrangement for Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020" - http://bit.ly/1riGjym.
