photographs in the Gallery’s collection. The

tour should take around an hour and then we

Monday - 30 September - 10.30 am

ADVANCE CARE PLANNING

We all know the importance of making a will,

but do you know about an Advance Care Plan

(ACP)?

Advance care planning is about your future

health care. It gives you the opportunity to

plan for what you would want, or not want, if

you become unable to make, or

communicate, your own preferences.

A representative of ACT Health spoke on this

topic to members last month. We are offering

another session on Monday 30 September

commencing at 10.30 am. The session covers

the benefits and the legal implications of an

ACP. The representative will also speak about

having an Enduring Power of Attorney and will

answer your questions on both of these

documents.

As numbers are limited, please register your

interest at the Club office immediately. Further

sessions may be arranged if necessary.

OUT & ABOUT IN OCTOBER

Wednesday – 2 Oct – 10.00 am

TULIP TOP, SUTTON

Spring is here (although still a bit crisp!) and

time to talk ‘Tulips’. We have organised

another trip to the gardens at Sutton. Leaving

at the respectable hour of 10.00 am, from the

Burns Club at Kambah, we will have plenty of

time to enjoy the garden before leaving for

home at 2.00 pm.

Just 20 minutes from Canberra on the

Federal Highway, the 10-acre garden of

magnificent tulips and other spring flowers

creates a spectacular display. Hundreds of

blossom trees nestle between the flowers and

provide a magic pathway to the cascading

waterfall and watercourse.

Food options are available from the Garden

Marquee or the pancake and coffee parlour

set among the tulips, but you can also bring a

picnic to enjoy anywhere in the garden.

Cost: $32.00 (includes transport & garden

entry) – bookings by until Friday 20 Sept.

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING!

FESTITALIA!

Amid the soothing tones of Italian

‘café’ music and the sea of red,

white and green, ‘Tugg Trattoria’

was abuzz last Saturday with conversation

and culinary delights. Antipasti, ragu, pizza,

Italian insalata, garlic bread, tiramisu,

cassata, biscotti and expresso coffee added

to the atmosphere and the flavour of the

afternoon. The weather was crisp but kind

with the sun shining into the colourful hall –

viva Italia - a great way to celebrate the start

of spring and the Club’s 2019’s International

Day! A big thank you to Norm and his tireless

committee and to all who contributed to the

enjoyable social event!

TUGGERANONG TO GUNGAHLIN

Our 'sun dance' must have worked as the

designated day was beautiful, crisp and clear

- perfect for the rescheduled bus and tram

journey. For this ‘freelance’ activity, members

met at the Tuggeranong Bus Interchange,

travelled to Civic by bus, transferring to the

Gungahlin tram. Lunch at the Raiders Club

provided the necessary fuel for the return trip

and everyone had a great time

travelling on Canberra's newest

form of public transport!
