Godspace II—the work continues!

A crew of enthusiastic volunteers came into the church this week to strip down the Narthex—getting it ready for a new look. The coat racks were removed, the carpeting lifted, windows cut into the interior stairwells and the back wall removed. It was hot and sweaty but they got the job done. Now it’s up to our contractor, Brian, to make it pretty!

For the next two weeks or so, there will be limited access through the Narthex during the renovation. Please watch for the no-entry signs and be careful in and around the Narthex.

Thanks everyone for the sweat and the smiles!

Northern BC Youth Discovery Trip Fundraising

Plans are well under way for the discovery trip to Terrae, Prince Rupert, Nass Valley and Hazelton this August. We are working hard to raise 50% of our funds through fundraising efforts, so there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the summer to contribute! Here are some ways you can help support the 7 youth and 4 young (and not-so-young) adults who will be travelling. We have tried to choose fundraising activities that raise us money while saving you time and money and providing great value!

• Help yourself on some Sunday mornings before church to a fresh home baked muffin or treat for a donation (suggested minimum donation 1.00!) Each week different participants will provide some baking for your enjoyment.

• Bring your empty bottles and refundable containers (rinsed if possible) to the lower hall/courtyard on or by Sunday July 5 and we will return them for you. For a donation of $5.00 or more we will also recycle your inconvenient-to-recycle small items (paint cans, batteries, small electronics etc) We will make sure they get to the right place. Sorry – no fridges, stoves or furniture!!

• For a list of items that can be recycled go to: http://www.northshorerecycling.ca/recycling/recycle-this

• Purchase some home baking at the carnival on June 28 (proceeds split between the summer program and the discovery trip)

• Watch for the date of a parent night/day out event where you can drop your kids off to be cared for by our very talented and kid friendly group! Date(s) to be announced.

• And of course we accept your cash donations (mark your donor number and ‘discovery trip’ on the cheque or envelope.) Your donation is tax receiptable.
