Congratulations to: Alan and Mary Elizabeth Jackson on the birth of a granddaughter, Katherine Belle Jackson, April 14. She is the daughter of Brent and Ashley Jackson of Oklahoma City. Big sister is Addison. Great grandparents are Jack and Reva Jackson.

News to note

Communion gifts—Today’s Communion offering will benefit the Bethesda Clinic.

Cookbooks on sale—MOPS cookbooks are on sale today in the atrium for $10 each. They contain 300 great recipes and make great gifts.

UMW—The UMW general meeting will be Monday, May 4, with speaker Stacy Welk. The meeting and new officer installation begin at 10:30, and the program begins at 11. It is too late to make meal reservations, but you may come for the program.

Recreation—Summer T-ball—register children ages 4 to 6 by May 4. Games will be played on Saturdays beginning June 13. Men’s and co-rec softball—register by Monday, May 18. Games will be played on Mondays starting June 8 at Lindsey Park. Contact Mark Gilbert ([email protected] or 903.592.6671) for information.

Men—Come for breakfast, Bible study and fellowship, 6:45-7:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the Sleep Inn, 555 S. Donnybrook (across from Premier Fitness). Cost is $5.

Grownups—The Grownups Lunch is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, in Pirtle Hall. The program is the history of the Rose Festival with Jill Ramey. Make reservations in the Welcome Center or on the web site by May 18.

Youth—Register now in the youth office for these activities: May 25–30, college mission trip, Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans $200; June 9–12, help with VBS from 9 a.m. to noon; June 22–26, middle school mission project with Mission Week, $125; July 19–25, senior high mission trip to New Orleans, $325.

Vacation Bible School—We need volunteers for Camp Edge June 8–12. The kick off is at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and VBS will meet from 9 a.m–noon Tuesday–Friday. Registration begins May 17. Contact Shannon Pogue ([email protected] or 903.592.7396).

Women—Two programs are planned for this summer. Holy Homemaker Bible Study begins June 9, and a Wednesday Night Bible Study begins July 8. Register at the Welcome Center or on the web site.
