Presentation ceremony of ELCINA-EFY Awards for 2017-18 (43rd Annual Award Function of ELCINA) held on 14th September, 2018 in New Delhi

The 43rd Annual Presentation Ceremony for ELCINA-EFY Awards for Excellence in Electronics Hardware Manufacturing & Services was celebrated on 14th September 2018 at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi.

The Industrialists and the award winners were welcomed by Mr. Pankaj Gulati, President & Executive Committee of Electronic Industries Association of India along with Mr. Ramesh Chopra, Executive Chairman & Publisher of EFY Group.

The ceremony was honored by the Chief Guest Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, IAS – Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India.

Outgoing ELCINA President, Mr. Pankaj Gulati exhorted the ESDM industry to undertake a campaign to achieve high levels of value-added electronics manufacturing in India on a war footing. This should be matched with a focus on achieving world class excellence in electronic manufacturing services (EMS). The experienced industry leader was speaking on the occasion of the 43rd ELCINA-EFY Annual Awards for 2017-18 held in New Delhi on Friday, 14th September 2018 and set an Export Target of US$ 25 Bn by 2021-22 as against the current unimpressive figure of US$ 6 Bn.

ELCINA has joined hands with Messe München

India (MMI) as its “Partner Association” for

electronica India and productronica India

Exhibition. The key objective of this partnership

is to bring the benefits of electronica

productronica, a global event, to domestic

companies to catalyse growth and value

addition in the Indian electronics manufacturing

industry.

As a Partner Association, ELCINA co-organises

the CEO Forum and India PCB Tech exhibition-

cum-conference to highlight industry issues and

opportunities. India PCB Tech is a dedicated

platform for the PCB Sector and its value chain which connects large Buyers with Sellers and

facilitates the acquisition of technology and encourage joint ventures between Indian and

global players.

ELCINA Delegation to Taiwan, 8th to 12th October 2018

ELCINA organized delegation to Taiwan along with the member companies to participate in the 4th India – Taiwan Electronics Meet (ITEM), organised by ELCINA at Taipei and also to participate in the 44th Taipei International Electronics Show (Taitronics 2018), organized by TAITRA at Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei World Trade Center, Taipei from 8th October to 12th October 2018.

The 4th India – Taiwan Electronics Meet, 2018 was a Conference and Buyer Seller forum for networking with Taiwanese companies and One to One discussions.

Roundtable Discussion with Mr. Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary MeitY

ELCINA had a Roundtable Discussion with Mr. Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary MeitY, and other senior officials on 4th December 2018 regarding the challenges being faced by the Component manufacturers in the country. In the meeting various pain

points of sector were discussed, including the issue of dumping of electronic components by global suppliers at irrationally low prices which are often below manufacturing cost, high cost of Finance, Cumbersome procedure and obligations under IGCR, challenges being faced in high value addition electronic items. MeitY have been empathetic to the industry concerns and have committed for better ecosystem for the sector.

Business development for Members has been a prime objective of ELCINA. The Association constantly scouts for the

To continue our efforts, ELCINA & C-DOT jointly organized a half day “Manufacturers Meet” on 7th December, 2018 @ C-DOT, Delhi Campus. The objective of the event is to connect ELCINA Members and C-DOT and to showcase newer technologies which are available for Indian companies to Manufacture. The theme of the program was “Business Potential of C-DOT Products & Technologies”. Total 20 + ELCINA Members participated in the Meet.

KPCA show 2019 in Korea 23-27 April, 2019

ELCINA is a Member of World Electronics Circuits Council (WECC). Korea Printed Circuit Association invited ELCINA other WECC Members to KPCAshow/KIEP show2019 which was held on April 24-26, at KINTEX 2, Ilsan in Korea.

This year KPCA expected more than 12,000 people from ODM, OEM, PCB manufacturing, materials, equipment supply and relevant

business include SMT to visit the show.

ELCINA put up a booth in the show to promote India PCBTech & IPCA Expo which will be held in Greater Noida as a co-located show during electronica-productronica shows in September this year.

10th Strategic Electronics Summit 30 – 31st July 2019 at Bangalore

The 10th edition of the Strategic

Electronics Summit was organized at

Bangalore International Exhibition Centre

(BIEC), Bengaluru on the 30th & 31st July

2019. The agenda of Strategic electronics

summit was to discuss the key

developments in the strategic electronics

industry, highlight emerging technology

perspectives and evolve the capability

roadmap for 2019 and beyond.

There was special focus in the 10th edition on Policy developments, Ease of doing business,

Defence Corridors & infrastructure, export opportunities which has grown rapidly and

importance of Start Ups in Innovation and IP Creation.

The theme for this year was “Creating an

Ecosystem for Strengthening Indigenous

Manufacturing in Strategic Electronics”

With more than USD 100 billion

investment expected in the defence

sector in India over the next 5-6 years,

the overall strategic electronics space

needs a higher private partnership in this

space. ELCINA in collaboration with Ernts

& Young released a knowledge paper on

Strategic Electronics during the event.

This year ELCINA launched a special initiative for Start Ups, which was very successful and

witnessed robust participation. There were 30 active Start Ups participating as Exhibitors

demonstrating the success of the Start Up Pavilion.

Most of the Start-ups which participated in SES 2019 were associated with Innovations for

Defence Excellence (iDEX) launched by the Dept. of Defence Production in April 2018. Many of

the Start-ups showcased a variety of technologies and products such as drones, robotics, solar

power back up, and a unique concept of Air Taxi for human transportation was showcased by

Passenger Drone Research Private Ltd (PDRL). IdeaForge, which is recognized as one of the top

ten start-ups in defense and aerospace also participated in the event.

Many special activities were organised for the Start-Ups during SES 2019 which included

knowledge sharing and business development activities.
