Dear Franklin Families,

To kick off the new summer reading, we are recommending all students to read

throughout the summer. “The Summer Slide” is what happens when skills learned

throughout the school year are lost or diminished during the summer break. It is vital

that all students practice their reading skills during the summer months. You can help

prevent the summer slide by: encouraging your student to read, reading aloud to your

child, visiting the library, continuing digital learning such as iReady, or keeping a

summer journal. I am also including Summer Reading Bingo for alternative ways to

have fun reading this summer. There is no required K-5 summer reading assignment,

however it is highly recommended that all students read.

We have attached a list of book titles that are specifically picked for each grade level.
