FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION-is the process by which streets and highways
are grouped into classes, or systems, according to the character of traffic service that they are intended to provide. There are three highway functional classifications: arterial, collector, and local roads

HIGHWAY FUNCTIONAL CLASSES (1-URBAN STREET SYSTEM)
1-Free way system: 120m in Erbil
2- Arterial road system: 40m,60m in Erbil
3-Collector road system: used as a connection between local roads and arterial roads
4- Local road system: They are designed specifically to have high accessibility and to connect to collector and arterial roads, and are typically not used for through traffic.
