JW? *The Manor Section a4 100 Years of Hillsdale History Hillsdale - one borough but a community of communities, founded by developers over the past 120 years. The Manor section, commonly recognized as the north central area of town, is distinctive for having two histories after the farming era.

In 1892, the area delimited by Knickerbocker Ave. on the south, Lincoln Ave. on the north, Broadway on the west and Wooddale Park on the east was bought by the Hillsdale Manor Improvement Co. (34 Park Row, New Yorkj. It absorbed Hillsdale Terrace, subdivided in 1890 along Clinton Ave., and in 1900 added land westward to Pascack Brook. In anticipation and encouragement of development, the Hillsdale Manor station of the railroad was built in 1893,.with a small park to the east, recently developed as Broadway Plaza. All the present streets were
