HSWA PICNIC

Summer is here and we are inviting you all to come and join your friends for a fun day out in the sun, where you can enjoy awesome music, food, drinks and

good quality time with friends and family.

Not only that, there will be a fun team quiz (Bharat Ko Jano Quiz) with prizes to win, games for kids and adults.

Everyone is welcome, members or non-members. You are welcome to invite

guests as well. If all goes to plan, you will also get an opportunity to get a free health check on the spot!!!

Bring your picnic basket and the drinks are on us!

So spread the word, book the date in your diary and don't forget to bring your picnic basket, some water and sunscreen with you. Drinks will be provided by

Hindi Samaj. This is a strictly alcohol free event

Sahitye Saha After successfully organising Sangeet Sandhya for past few years, we

somewhere or would like to share with others in the form of a poem, brief talk, history of Hindi, shayari, short essays or any other means. Even if you just have your own story you would like to share just how

your nana/nani/ dada/ dadi did with you, come and share.

Tea and snacks will be provided. Gold coin donations are welcome

times, so parents have nothing to worry

about!

Indradhanush 2013 Auditions The new year is almost here and we are fast heading towards the

mega event for 2013 – INDRADHANUSH.

Your most loved event will be back again this year in April 2013. Auditons will be conduted in March. You might want to get your

teams together, while you’ve got time over Christmas break.

Think of everything Indian about yourself and people around you, which makes you a proud Indian, a proud Hindian. Use that

as a theme for your presentation.

More details will be shared in future newsletters. We will be looking forward to a lot of exciting and amazing performances

Best of luck

Would you like to become an interpreter? NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) is calling for community

interpreters to apply as soon as possible for the 2013 round of its New Interpreters Project.

The WA workshops will be held in Perth on 11, 12, 18 and 19 February 2013 and aim to increase the number of NAATI accredited and recognised interpreters in ‘new and emerging’ languages in Australia.

The workshops also aim to assist existing community interpreters to gain NAATI Accreditation or Recognition, or to upgrade an existing accreditation for languages of need.

Funding for participants includes a preparatory workshop and the fees associated with applying to NAATI including:

· recognition as an interpreter

· paraprofessional interpreter accreditation testing.

NAATI delivers a 15-hour workshop as part of this project. Applicants must complete all 15 hours and satisfy the normal eligibility criteria.

For more information and a list of target languages for the project, visit the NAATI websitehttp://www.naati.com.au or contact the NAATI WA office on 9472 3588.

Applications close mid-January 2013 but applicants are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Places are strictly limited. Please contact the NAATI office for full details.Requests to participate will not be accepted unless all relevant paperwork is completed in full and all required documentation is attached.

The New Interpreters Project is administered by NAATI on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Indian High Commissioner in Perth The High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia visited Perth in early December and a representation from the HSWA committee welcomed them to Perth at a meeting organised by the Indian Society. He was also joined by his wife and the heads of association of

various Indian communities.

Kaveesh attended on behalf of Hindi Samaj and updated the High Commissioner with the efforts Hindi Samaj is putting to keep Hindi alive among young and old. Mr. Biren and his wife appreciated the work we

are doing through Paathshaala.

Mr. M Subbarayudu also attended the meeting with his wife and appreciated Hindi Samaj’s efforts.
