Historic Landscapes

Wolff Landscape Architecture, Inc.’s historic landscape preservation practice is guided by the belief that the hand of the preservation landscape architect should be invisible. What should be visible is the historic landscape itself, whether it is the design of an individual place or a cultural landscape that expresses a particular period or social organization. The starting point for our work is the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Guidelines for the Treatment of Historic Landscapes. Our services include site inventory and analysis, historic research, preparation of Historic Landscape Reports (HLRs), development, evaluation, recommendation and analysis of alternative treatment options, preparation of grant applications and assistance with funding, budget estimating, historic landscape design, public communication, contract documentation, and construction phase services.
