Caesar

n.

Used as a title and form of address for Roman emperors.

thou art not Caesar's friend.

whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

We have no king but Caesar.


King

n.

A male sovereign, ruler.

whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King.

Crucify

Cross

An upright post with a transverse piece near the top, on which

condemned persons were executed in ancient times.

Place

n.

A particular point or part of space or of a surface, esp that occupied by a

person or thing.

and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement.

for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city.

Place of skulls: (1) The place where Jesus was crucified near Jerusalem;

(2) an experience of extreme suffering.

And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull,

which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha.


Cry out

v.

To scream or shout aloud.

but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not

Caesar's friend.

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him.


Pilate

n.

Roman procurator of Judaea (in office c. 26 – 36 CE), who ordered the

crucifixion of Jesus, allegedly against his better judgment.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth.


And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross.

Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate.

Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
