16th century – Barber dentists were sent from England to U.S.
1640 – Toothbrush was introduced into the western world.

18th century A.D – Pierre fauchard emphasized the need to keep the teeth clean if diseases were to be prevented.
1826 – m.Tavcaca in Paris introduced first form of amalgam.
1840 – Baltimore college of dental surgery marked official birth of formal dental education.

1890 – British dental association formed a committee for appointment of dentists to elementary
schools for carrying oral hygiene works.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY
1901 – Dr. Fredrick McKay discovered and coined word COLARADO STAIN in Colorado springs, USA.
1908 – Dr. Black & McKay & associates termed Colorado Stains as DENTAL FLUOROSIS.
1913 – Dental hygienist course started by Dr.Fones in Bridgeport.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY
1921 – Dentist Act was passed in England.
1925 – First dental college in India was named after Dr.R.Ahmed father of dentistry in India as Dr.R.Ahmed dental
college in Calcutta.
1945 – First water fluoridation plant in Grand Rapids,USA.
1945 – Voluntary pre paid comprehensive dental care.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY
1948 – Dentist Act was passed by Indian parliament. This act was introduced to regulate profession of dentistry in India.
1949 – Group Health Association.
1973 – WHO established WHO oral epidemiological data bank which collects data on dental health and dental needs in many countries around globe.
