When was TelevisionInvented?
• The first electricallytransmitted TV pictureswere the work of J.L. Baird,who built his first TVsystem in 1926.
Philo Farnsworth
• 1927, Philo Farnsworth was thefirst inventor to transmit atelevision image comprised of 60horizontal lines. The imagetransmitted was a dollar sign.
Colour TV• Color TV was by no means a new
idea, a German patent in 1904contained the earliest proposal. Asuccessful color television systembegan commercial broadcasting,first authorized by the FCC onDecember 17, 1953 based on asystem invented by RCA.
Cable TV• Cable television, formerly known
as Community Antenna Televisionor CATV, was born in the late1940’s. It was designed to provideclearer TV and a reception inareas that could not properlyreceive TV channels through theirantenna
Remote Controls
• In June 1956, the TVremote controller wasbrought to peoples homes.The first TV remote controlcalled "Lazy Bones," andwas developed in 1950 byZenith ElectronicsCorporation (then known asZenith Radio Corporation).
Plasma TV• The very first prototype
for a plasma displaymonitor was invented in1964 by Donald Bitzer,Gene Slottow, and RobertWillson.
