History

• Started as a Neighbour Aid organisation.

• Established in 1969.

• 1974 became Hills Community Aid & Information Services Inc.

• Initially information and referral services, now much broader.

• Largely staffed by volunteers.

Established in 1969 as the Baulkham Hills Shire Neighbour Aid Committee when Baulkham Hills Council appointed the first social worker Sue Ellis. 1974 a purpose built community centre was established (Windsor Rd) at which point Neighbour Aid morphed into 2 separate organisations Hills Community Aid & Hills Community Care

Community Aid owns and operates a Toyota 22-seater air-conditioned bus and a Luggage Trailer. Available to community groups for a below market rate fee. Volunteer drivers or supply your own – used for history groups, seniors outings, playgroups, even a wedding

Learning in the Hills at Leisure Learning Centre offer a range of day classes in recreation, health, hobbies, arts and crafts, furniture and furnishing courses to adult learners during school term. This term classes include: tai chi & yoga, sewing, dressmaking, quilting, knitting, painting, cake decorating, upholstery and even an english for beginners conversation classes The low cost, great value courses provide an opportunity to learn new skills and interests in a friendly and pressure free environment. Classes are held at various times from Monday to Saturday and are detailed in the brochure below.   Learning in the Hills is located at: Balcombe Heights Community Building
