No matter whether a complete pro-duction line or a single machine is re-quired – we design and supply a full line of equipment for rolling and hand-ling long and flat products. You are equally likely to come across our plants operating in section, bar and wire rod mills as in blooming or slabbing mills. Especially for the extraordinary, we are the right partner – special solu-tions are our specialty.

The processes in a rolling mill are becoming more and more com-plex, accordingly the meshing of mechanics, hydraulics and elec-trics is likewise getting increasingly closer. Therefore, we at H&K have a team of more than 50 engineers and technicians from different dis-ciplines working together hand in hand.

Mechanical, electrical and building engineers as well as software spe-cialists realize plants with seamless-ly interconnecting components and reliably operating interfaces.

This close cooperation enables us to realize all-the-way-through control and network systems in addition to the mere plant technology. Our solutions include material tracking functions as well as data exchange with higher-level systems.

We continuously endeavour to keep our facilities at the latest state of the art. For basic engineering and detail planning tasks, we use 2D and 3D CAD workplaces; for the calculation of complex mechanical designs, we employ FEM software (Finite Element Method).

A team of experienced techni- cians and commissioning personnel renders our customers assistance during all stages of a project, from installation of the systems through to production support.

The multiplicity of design features makes our rolling stands unique in terms of efficiency and reliability. Thanks to our servohydraulical or electromechanical roll gap controls and high-precision measuring and control technology, our customers produce perfectly dimensioned semi-finished products.

On reversing rolling mills, our intel-ligent turnover and shifting devices position the rolling stock between the passes quickly and precisely – a basic precondition for an automatic rolling process and high through-put rates.

Our plants also save time during pro-duct changes. Semiautomatic roll changes reduce set-up times and increase the efficiency of the entire rolling mill.

In our plants, the material is fed automatically. This improves safety, as the operators stay at a safe dis-tance from the line.

Unique:

Our 180° roller-type turnover devices turn the rolling stock through its cen-tral axis, enabling automatic rolling with an extremely short pass sequence.

We move things: HandlIngFrom rolling to finishing, we supply plants that take the material safely through all stages of the production chain – up to the dispatch area.

The route from the continuous cast-ing plant to the loading area is long. For any lengthwise or cross transfer, intermediate storage, bundling or loading task you can rely on H&K. The rolling stock in your mill will always be at the right place at the right time.

As a matter of course, customer re-quirements have top priority. Cross

transfer by chain or car, slewable or curved roller tables – we always se-lect the best suited and economically most efficient solution in cooperation with the customer and in line with the requirements at hand.

Customers using our high-precision, integrated material tracking system always know the whereabouts of all

material items. Thus, processes can be highly efficiently controlled.

Unique:

Our transfer systems for a manipula-tor handling 100-m-long rails are con-trolled with such a high precision that the surface of the rail head will always remain perfectly immaculate.

Accurate to the millimeter:

CuttIng, saWIng, sHearIngWe offer an ample range of equipment for cold and hot cut-ting, including systems that position the material with highest precision on the machine.

Be it for in-process cuts, where speed counts, or for cutting to selling size, where highest precision and clean cut edges are required – we always have the right equipment.

The precision of the cuts depends on the positioning accuracy. High-preci-sion positioning of the material is gua-ranteed by our hydraulically controlled length stops or laser-based systems.

Our customers can avail themselves of a great variety of proven solu-tions for clamping and holding the sections to be cut and for sample cutting. For exceptional require-ments, we develop and realize cus-tomized solutions.

Our range of sawing, cutting and shearing equipment is complemen-ted by solutions for handling scrap

such as long or short cut-off ends and for chopping steel bars.

Unique:

A type of water cooling for hot and cold cutting machines prevents caking of grinding dust.

Cooling beds

Controlled cooling, for example of rails, is enabled by the patented, software-controlled prebending process and the exact positioning of the products on the cooling bed.

This ensures that the rails leave the cooling bed in a state of minimal residual stresses.

Roller straighteners

We offer horizontal straightening machines for straightening railway and crane rails and heavy beams. Vertical, horizontal and axial adjust-ment of the straightening shafts is computer-controlled.

For the full range of products from sections and rails through to heavy be-ams, H&K supplies vertical straigh-teners equipped with hydraulic lock for the straightening shafts.

Also in this field of technology, we place special emphasis on efficien-cy and process security. H&K ma-nipulators for feeding the material into the straightening machines can turn the products through up to 230°. The control of the mani-pulator automatically adapts to the specific product.

Unparalleled:

Thanks to the application of the pa-tented system for asymmetrical di-stance adjustment of the straighte-ning roller shafts, H&K equipment is uniquely suited to minimize off-size lengths and residual stresses in the material.

H&K Industrieanlagen GmbH has its roots in Koch Transporttechnik GmbH, founded in 1945 and specia-lized in conveying and mineral pro-cessing equipment. The integration of Hoestemberghe & Klütsch GmbH in 1994 expanded the company’s com-petence into rolling mill technology. The acquisition by FLSmidth in 2007 marked the beginning of worldwide business activities.

In 2010, Wolfgang Gerhard and Ger-hart Hölzl established H&K Industrie-anlagen GmbH as a management buy-out.

More than 60 years of experience in rolling mill technology

Since 2011, the company has its headquarters in Rehlingen, in the German state of Saarland. Today H&K is present worldwide, with bran-ches and representations in Linz/Aust-ria, Moscow and Shanghai.
