Internship Information• Interned with GHS Marketing Department from
January 12, 2016-April 14, 2016.• Specifically, I worked weekly on Tuesdays and
Thursdays, from 8:00am-4:00pm or 9:00am-5:00pm.• Logged over 200 working hours.• Preceptor was Emily Hughes. – Emily is a Marketing Development Coordinator who
reports directly to the Director of Marketing (Sally Foister).
Internship Faucets • Throughout my internship at GHS, I utilized a variety of
networking and software programs.• In learning these programs, I was able to enhance and interact
with GHS’s website, blog, and project management system.• I also had the opportunity to partake and head many projects.• More specifically, these programs and projects include:
– Wrike– FlierEngine– WordPress– MyChart marketing plan
Wrike• Wrike, Inc. is a project management application service provider. • Wrike's primary product is an online tool for project
management and work collaboration.• At GHS, Wrike is used to facilitate seamless communication
between coordinators, designers, editorial staff, etc. during a project’s lifetime.
• Projects (such as brochures, posters, magnets) are uploaded into Wrike as a “job.” Each job is given a specific job number is assigned to a team (who is then responsible for completing the job before the specified due date).
FlierEngine• The internal GHS Marketing Tools site consists
of resources and outlets that employees can access to market their specific practice, service, specialty, etc.
• This tool allows employees to draft a flier and submit their draft to editorial services.
• Once approved, the client will receive confirmation and they are free to print and distribute the flier to patients.
WordPress• WordPress is an online tool that allows clients to create their
own, custom website. • GHS utilizes WordPress to facilitate their main website and
their children’s website. • WordPress contains a variety of functions that allow GHS to
post blogs, testimonies, featured physicians, and much more.
• Regarding the main GHS site, I updated the MyChart webpage as well as added feature photos to the HealthCenter blogs.
MyChart Marketing Plan• My main task during my internship was to implement a
marketing plan for the new online patient portal, MyChart.• MyChart offers patients personalized and secure online
access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health.
• The marketing plan consisted of targeting current patients as well as current GHS employees.
• Internal and external tactics are utilized to reach our audience.
Conclusion
• Throughout my marketing internship, I gained a lot of knowledge about various marketing techniques.
• I also learned how to seamlessly communicate with other members of the marketing team, in order to efficiently produce a marketing piece for a client.
• Thank you, GHS Marketing Department, for hosting my Spring 2016 Internship!
