BeaLougraduatedfromBarHarborHighSchoolin1934—shehadbeentheoldest livinggraduate—andfromWheelockCollege,Boston,Mass.,in 1938 with a teaching degree in elementary education. She lovinglytaughtkindergartenintheBarHarborpublicschoolsystemformanyyears,withlegionsofgraduateswhorememberherfondly.OnJuly2,1939,shemarriedW.ReaHornerofCarmichaels,Pa.,whoinlateryearswasknowntoourfamilyas“TheMusicMan.”ReaworkedfortheMobilOilCorp.onMountDesertIsland,HancockPointandBangor,andfor52yearsofhappymarriagetheylivedandraisedtheirchildreninBarHarbor.Reatakingearlyretirement in 1973, they traveled in Europe and spent many wonderfulwinterswithfriendsattheircondominiuminBradenton,Fla.MusicandtheBarHarborCongregationalChurchwerecentraltotheirlifetogether.TheywerefoundingmembersoftheoriginalAcadiaChoralSocietyandstalwartsinthechurchchoirformanyyears.Evenasshenearedtheendofherlife,BeaLoustillknewthealtopartofeveryhymn.Atthetimeofherdeath,shehadbeenamemberofthechurchfor79years,theoldestonrecord.
