HIDDEN AWAY, 29 Main Road, HogsbackThe original house, a small thatched English cottage, was totally surrounded by tall Cypress trees, and so quite “Hidden Away” from the road or any prying eyes. With the steep slope, the

house saw very little sun, and the temperature stayed just above freezing both winter and summer! Aphids attacked the Cyprus trees, forcing us to chop many out,

which was a blessing, as the sun could then shine in.

Unfortunately the cottage had suffered from the lack of sunshine, so this too was demol-ished and we built the present homestead, with its spectacular view. During the GARDEN

SAUNTER we will have on offer;

A TEA GARDEN serving Tea/Coffee, Buttermilk Scones and homemade Jam. Chicken and Salad rolls with homemade Ginger Beer. Jams and Preserves incl. Crystallised Orange

Strips and Lemon Curd, Raw local Honey, Strawberries and Cream, Creamy Fudge, Hand-Made Soaps, Homemade Hogsback Cheese, homemade Rusks and Biscuits,

Mini Christmas Cakes, Handmade Crafts, Plants and Sprouts

HAPPY HOGS RESTAURANT – 082 872 7705 10:00 AM Animal Blessing

For the fifth year in a row, Hogsback will be holding a St. Francis Day Blessing of the animals. Started in 2008 by renowned hosts Rudi Fourie and Oliver Deevoy, the

animals will be gathering in the garden in front of the “HAPPY HOGS RESTAURANT” on the Main Road.

In past years, parish priest Rev. Margaret Fourie has blessed dogs and cows, though she tells of previous services in Cape Town, where the congregation at “Holy Redeemer”

were surprised to welcome cats, a hamster and tortoise as well.Immediately following the brief service will be a cake sale in aid of the local

Animal Welfare, and if past years are anything to go by, this will be a great time had by all. This is an invitation to all pet owners to bring their animals for the annual

blessing. Please carry your cats, birds, fish, rats and hamsters in appropriate cages. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE ALONG WITH YOUR PRECIOUS PETS
