Hojat Shakiba (born 1949 in Gorgan) is an Iranian painter
They in turn encouraged him in 1974 to go to the fine arts faculaty of Tehran university to further develop his skills.He studied eastern and western art and copied classical woks of Rembrandt and Rubens.Shakiba's copy of Titian's painting, depicting Christ's body being brought down from the cross, today hangs in the old church of Shapour in Tehran.During this period, he also researched forms, designs and figures of artwork in the Iran Bastan (History) Museum, concentrating on more contemporary art dealing with the qajar era and coffee house paintings.Currently lives in Canada and has showrooms both in Iran and Vancouver Canada
Hojat Shakiba is today recognized as the unchallenged master of Persian nostalgic paintings. He was introduced to photography, painting and calligraphy at a very early age working in his father's studio.His talent for the arts prompted his father to send him to the boys fine arts academy in Tehran where he spend the next three years studying under master miniaturists like Moghimi Tabrizi and Gholam Hossain Nami.
