A medida que los días festivos se aproximan y todos queremos

celebrar con nuestros seres

queridos, este año me siento triste de desearles unas Felices Navidades a mis amigos, familiares y a nuestros lectores después de la horrible masacre en Sandy Hook Elementary. Nadie sabe por qué, Adán Lanza de solo 20 años de edad mató a su madre, después llevo sus armas a la escuela y asesinó a 20 niños y seis adultos en un colegio primario de Connecticut que estaba lleno de alegría navideña. Acontecimientos como estos inevitablemente vuelven a abrir debates sobre el control de armas.

Puede ser el momento perfecto para hablar sobre este tema pero también es el momento preciso para hablar sobre los programas de salud mental en nuestro país. Los fondos de nuestro país para los servicios públicos de salud mental han empeorado desde la recesión de 2008. Como nos ha advertido la Alianza Nacional de Enfermedades Mentales desde hace un tiempo, el nivel actual de recursos es insuficiente. Muy a menudo simplemente hay pocos o ningún recurso para ellos hasta que llegan

a la atención del sistema judicial. Dejando a la deriva enfermos mentales perdemos la oportunidad de identificar y tratar algunos de estos individuos de alto riesgo antes de que se agraven y causen destrucción masiva. Les brindamos nuestras sinceras condolencias a todas estas familias de las víctimas que no serán capaces de abrazar a sus hijos en esta temporada navideña. ¡No te olvides de abrazar a los tuyos! As the holidays approach and everyone wants to celebrate with their loved ones,

this year I feel sad wishing friends, family and our readers a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays after the horrific and tragic mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary.Nobody knows why 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother, why he then took her guns to the school and murdered 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut Elementary School that was full of the season’s joy. Terrifying incidents such as these inevitably re-open debates on gun control. So while it may be the perfect time to talk about gun control, it is also the right time to talk about mental health care in our country. Our country’s funding for

mental health services has only gotten worse since the 2008 recession. As the National Alliance on Mental Illness has been warning us for a while, the current level of funding is inadequate. Very often, there are simply few to no resources for them until they fall into the criminal justice system. By leaving the mentally ill adrift, we miss the opportunity to identify and treat some of these at-risk individuals before they escalate and cause mass destruction. El presidente Barack Obama dijo en una entrevista reciente que el futuro de Venezuela debería ser decidido por sus ciudadanos detrás que el mandatario venezolano identifico públicamente a su favorito para reemplazarlo en el poder sin no se recupera.“Hemos visto de Chávez en el pasado políticas autoritarias y represión a la disidencia. No especularé sobre cuál es su condición médica, pero para lo que nuestra política está constantemente diseñada es para garantizar que tienes las voces de venezolanos comunes expresando que tienen libertad, que pueden si se esfuerzan para tener éxito en ese país”, indicó según una entrevista suministrada por Univisión.

La deforestación en la Amazonia destruyó un área casi tan grande como el Reino Unido entre el periodo de 2000 y 2010, según agencias de control ambiental. El estudio preparado por la Red Amazónica de Información Socio ambiental Georreferenciada reporta que cerca de 240 mil kilómetros cuadrados de la selva tropical de la Amazonia fueron destruidos en un periodo de 10 años.

Un 24% de los chilenos pedirán el día libre en sus trabajos el próximo 21 de diciembre, cuando algunos pronostican una catástrofe mundial y otros tres días de oscurecimiento de la Tierra. ¿Que tal?

El ministro de Comunicación de Venezuela, Ernesto Villegas mencionó la posibilidad que el presidente Hugo Chávez, que se recupera de una cirugía delicada, no pueda estar en la ceremonia de investidura el próximo 10 de enero, donde asumirá un nuevo mandato de seis años. “Confiemos en que, con el amor de millones, el Comandante se repondrá pronto y vendrá a tomar el mando antes del 10 de enero.

De no ser así, nuestro pueblo deberá estar preparado para entenderlo. Lo irresponsable sería ocultar lo delicado del momento actual y de los días por venir”, indica el ministro en un comunicado. Villegas dijo que el pueblo venezolano debe asimilar la enfermedad de Chávez como quien tiene “un padre enfermo, en una situación delicada después de cuatro intervenciones quirúrgicas en año y medio”.

internacionales, filántropos y los ganadores del premio Emmy Gloria y Emilio Estefan, así como los patrocinadores de la gala, miembros de la gala , comités de subastas, además de más de 980 invitados que han ayudado a la organización recaudar más de $ 350.000. Solamente esta gala recaudó más de $ 23,000!Hispanic Unity of Florida, con el apoyo de la comunidad, ha ayudado a más de 327.000 clientes en los últimos 30 años. Telethon and Univision combined forces to create Teleton USA. What began as a dream in Chile and then spread to Mexico and Latin America, now became a reality in the United States too.The Teleton calls upon the entire Hispanic community to join this cause to help children

with disabilities, cancer and autism.The Telethon is held every year in Mexico. Receta: Sangria navideñaA veces se hace con vino blanco en lugar de tinto, en cuyo caso se llama sangría blanca. Es importante hacer la sangría justo antes de ser consumida o, si esto no es posible, que al menos no sea más de una o dos horas antes.El motivo es evitar que cambien las características del vino y que la fruta no fermente por la acción del azúcar y del alcohol. INGREDIENTES:Jugo de un limón2 naranjas dulces cortadas en rodajas finas

2 cucharadas soperas de azúcar1 litro de vino tinto3 ramitas de canela30 cc de ron o BrandyClavo dulcePreparación. Colocar los ingredientes en una jarra, menos el vino y llevar a la nevera. Ella es un sol radiante que ilumina la ciudad de Miami. Desde niña observaba

las estrellas, eclipses y cometas en el firmamento. Sabía que su sueño apuntaba hacia el cielo. De piel canela, ojos brillantes y sonrisa angelical, la meteoróloga Denise Isaac, conquista las pantallas de Telemundo (canal 51).Nació en la ciudad de Colón, República de Panamá, lugar donde creció y representa con inmenso orgullo. Proveniente de una numerosa familia, Denise recuerda su infancia como uno de los momentos más hermosos en su vida. Con diez hermanos con quien jugar y soñar los días en Colón le llenan los ojos de alegría.“Mi Infancia fue bella. Ahora viendo como los niños viven, veo mi infancia más bella que nunca. Salía de clases y caminaba a la casa. Almorzaba. Veía TV y a las 3 de la tarde todos salíamos a jugar a la calle béisbol, el escondite o lo que fuese. Siempre nos asegurábamos de divertirnos por un buen rato. Jugábamos todos los niños de la cuadra. Debe ser por eso que hoy en día disfruto tanto de las actividades al aire libre. Me gusta patinar, manejar bicicleta (…) yo prefiero estar afuera que viendo televisión en casa”, contó. A pesar de tener varios años viviendo en los Estados Unidos, Denise extraña su casa. Se asegura de ir frecuentemente a visitar a sus amigos y familiares. Mantiene con su madre un convenio gastronómico, en el cual ambas se aseguran que al tocar tierra panameña, el fogón de su casa se encuentre siempre humeante. El arroz con coco y el pulpo en salsa costeña (especialidad de su madre) no pueden faltar en la mesa. Las noches en Colón fueron inspiración para Denise. “Al principio yo quería ser Astrónoma, quería estudiar las estrellas. Con mis hermanos me gustaba ir afuera a verlas. Observaba los eclipses, meteoritos, etc. Yo pensé que esa era mi tendencia. Siempre me ha gustado la ciencia. Cuando tome la decisión de venirme a Norteamérica, me di cuenta que podía ver el canal del clima todos

los días, a cualquier hora. Allí tome la decisión de estudiar Meteorología”, indicó Isaac. A pesar de que en Panamá siempre es el mismo clima y en muchos países latinos no es frecuente el reporte del estado del tiempo, “cuando llegue aquí y presencié los cambios climáticos quedé sorprendida. Los tornados, tormentas de nieve y huracanes me apasionan. Allí me dije es mucho más emocionante estudiarlo aquí en los Estados Unidos y así lo hice”. Su paso por ‘The Florida State University’ ha sido otras de sus gratas experiencias. “Fue una excelente universidad para estudiar Meteorología. La separación con mi familia fue muy difícil pero tenía como meta ser meteoróloga. Allí me aseguré de disfrutar mi vida de estudiante. Traté de sumergirme en esta cultura. Iba a los juegos de fútbol americano y básquetbol. Fue una experiencia maravillosa. Si volvería al pasado lo haría igual. Yo soy cien por ciento panameña, pero recomiendo a la gente que llega a este país, que conozca esta cultura, que se involucre, que vean cuantas cosas maravillosas hay. Las fronteras son amplias y vale la pena conocerlas”, manifestó la especialista del clima. En FSU Denise recibió clases para presentar el tiempo en TV, aunque asegura que al principio soñaba con trabajar para el Centro Nacional de Huracanes. Sin embargo, un golpe de suerte cambio el rumbo de la meteoróloga. “El Gerente General de Telemundo Orlando llegó al lugar donde me encontraba trabajando para grabar una promoción del lugar. Como ese día falto la chica que iba a grabar la versión en español yo me ofrecí. Al finalizar le comenté lo que había estudiado y me puse a la orden. A las dos semanas me llamó diciendo que el meteorólogo necesitaba tomar vacaciones y me pidió que lo supliera por esos días. Era mi destino”, recordó. Asimismo, en sus horas de descanso, fines de semana y días libres “iba a entrenarme. Después de eso se abrió un puesto en Washington DC y el mismo gerente al cual

le debo mucho, me dijo: ‘Denise me gustaría que aplicaras’. Así fue como conseguí el trabajo. Yo pienso que fue una combinación de buena suerte y trabajo porque nunca dije que no. Uno tiene que trabajar hasta lograr las metas”. A la vuelta de unos meses ya Denis recibía otra llamada que cambiaría de nuevo el rumbo de su vida. Esta vez, la oferta venía de la mano del programa ‘Buenos Días Miami’. “Sabía que este nuevo reto traería algunos sacrificios pero me dije esta es otra gran oportunidad (...) Las puertas se me han abierto y he logrado una química espectacular con todo el equipo y la gente que he conocido. A pesar de que me han ofrecido otros turnos, yo no cambio el de la mañana, porque es muy especial. No hay nada que se le compare. Cuando nos reímos, nos reímos de verdad”, aseveró la presentadora. ¿Cómo comienza tu jornada de trabajo?La preparación es dura me despierto a las 2. 45 AM. A las 3:30 AM tengo que estar en el canal preparando mis gráficas. Me aseguro de ver los modelos y pronósticos. Luego paso a maquillaje y vestuario. Regreso y verifico que todo mi material esté listo y en orden. A las 4:50 AM ya estoy lista para empezar el show. Así voy armando mi historia, lo que quiero reportar en el día. La lluvia, la temperatura, en fin lo importante es informar al público para que se prepare antes de salir de su casa. ¿Qué evento natural te ha impactado más al momento de reportarlo?Me han marcado varios. En Washington DC, la ola de calor en el año 2008. Luego para el mes de diciembre, fue emocionante reportar la gran nevada que cayó ese mismo año. De hecho, fue muy fuerte y era la primera vez que cubría una nevada. Recuerdo que hice un hombre de nieve y traté de darle al público una opción para divertirse a pesar de la adversidad del clima. Sandy también me impactó. Me sorprendió lo perfecto que fue el pronóstico desde el Centro Nacional de Huracanes y como nos

sorprendió su intensidad cuando paso por Cuba. Fue una trayectoria tan detallada, que me impresionó lo que habíamos logrado con toda la tecnología y la información que había que dar para resguardar a las personas.Ante los cambios climáticos, ¿qué mensaje le gustaría enviar Denise a fin de crear conciencia en la población?Yo tomo muy en serio mi trabajo y trato de enviar un mensaje claro al público. Hasta con el reporte de la temperatura me lo tomo muy en serio. Hay que enseñar, educar, eso es clave sobre todo en la población latina que no está acostumbrada a muchos de los fenómenos naturales que aquí se desarrollan. No hay que alarmar hay que educar. Además, considero que mi misión es crear responsabilidad. Soy muy verde. Me gusta reciclar, ayudar a la Madre Naturaleza. Soy de las personas que le gusta sembrar un árbol, porque me pregunto qué va a pasar con ese hábitat, con los pájaros que vivían allí, las consecuencias que traería, como por ejemplo la sequía. Planes a corto plazo Estoy en el punto que he querido estar. Quise demostrar que realmente quería esto a mis jefes, a mi misma, y así lo he hecho, con trabajo duro porque amo lo que hago. Mi meta es seguir adelante, no parar. La gente se comunica muy bien conmigo y me agradece por guiarlos. Por saber que ropa debe usar. Eso me hace sentir muy bien, agradecida y responsable de seguir informando y educando. Hace poco fui a mi primera presentación del tiempo en una escuela. Les enseñé a los niños de cuarto grado como hago mis gráficas y para ellos fue un momento asombroso. Eso me llenó mucho porque me gustó ser inspiración de cosas buenas y lo seguiré haciendo.Para el cierre de esta edición Denise Isaac alcanzaba otro logro. Estuvo nominada junto a su equipo de trabajo en la 36Th entrega anual de los Suncoast Emmys Award 2012, categoría Weather –Program, Especial de Huracán 2012.

She’s a shining star that illuminates Miami. Since

her childhood she has been watching the stars, eclipses and comets in the sky. She knew her dream would point to the sky. And Denise Isaac’s dream became a reality as she now captivates the big screen as a meteorologist at Telemundo Station(Channel 51). Born in the city of Colon, Panama, she comes from a large family. She recalls that as a child, she always loved those stars.“At first I wanted to be an astronomer. I would go out to see the stars with my brothers. I observed eclipses, meteors, etc. I always liked science. When I decided to come to the U.S., I realized I could actually watch the weather channel every day, at any time. That’s when I made the decision to study meteorology, “said Isaac.“It was my destiny to be a

meteorologist, “she says candidly.“I am passionate about Tornadoes, hurricanes and blizzards. I felt it would be much more exciting to study them in the United States, so I did. “Denise admits she is very “green”. She loves to recycle and lend a hand to Mother Nature. She likes to plant a tree to help the environment.Denise is proud to bring us the weather report live from “Good Morning Miami,” at Telemundo station where you will find her every morning before the crack of dawn preparing the latest weather forecasts. And her hard work and passion for weather has paid off as she has recently been nominated (along with her team), in the 36th Annual Suncoast Emmy Award for 2012,Weather-Program category, Hurricane Special 2012.

Emergencias dentales durante las vacaciones

Una emergencia dental puede suceder en cualquier

momento. En general, para todas las emergencias dentales usted debe tratar de ubicar a su dentista o acudir al hospital lo más pronto posible. Si tiene dolor, puede tomar analgésicos y antiinflamatorios como Advil, Ibuprofeno, Tylenol, etc. También puede encontrar cementos provisionales y pastas medicinales que le pueden aliviar el dolor temporalmente y que puede usar para cementarse una corona o un puente temporalmente. Estas son mis sugerencias si, tienen que lidiar con una emergencia dental durante las navidades:• Heridas de los tejidos blandos: Los tejidos bucales sangran con mucha facilidad. Enjuague la zona con agua tibia y colóquese compresas de gaza por 10 a 20 minutos para parar el sangrado. Si no puede controlar el sangrado acuda rápidamente al hospital.• Dientes avulsionados (perdidos): Diente “de leche”: No intente volverlo a poner en la boca del niño. Trate de controlar el

sangrado con gasas y aplique compresas frías. Lleve a su niño al hospital o llame a su dentista. Si es un diente permanente, lávelo con agua sin restregarlo, y colóqueselo en su sitio lo más pronto posible. Si no puede colocárselo, entonces guárdelo en un vasito con leche o agua con sal y acuda al hospital.• Fracturas dentales, pérdida parcial de restauraciones o coronas: Enjuáguese la boca con agua tibia, limpie la zona y colóquese un cemento provisional que puede comprar en las farmacias hasta que visite a su dentista. Lléve su corona al dentista.• Alambres de ortodoncia: Si el alambre o el bracket le esta lastimando las encías o la lengua, puede colocarse un pedazo de chicle en la zona para proteger los tejidos hasta que vea a su dentista.• Abscesos, Infecciones o Hinchazón: Las infecciones dentales pueden disiparse a otros órganos del cuerpo. Es importante que vaya al hospital o centro de emergencias para que

le prescriban antibióticos mientras va a su dentista.Espero que ninguno de ustedes o sus familiares tenga que lidiar con una emergencia dental en estos días de fiesta. Many dental offices are closed during the holidays so here’s a

quick summary of what you can for some common dental emergencies:• Soft-tissue injuries. Oral tissues bleed a lot. To control the bleeding: Rinse your mouth with a mild salt-water solution. Hold a cold compress to the outside of the mouth or cheek in the affected area for 5 to 20 minutes. If the bleeding doesn’t stop, go to the emergency room. Continue to apply pressure on the bleeding site with the gauze until you can be seen.• Knocked-out tooth: If it is a baby tooth, do not try to re-insert it into the child’s mouth. Use gauze to control the bleeding and place cold compresses in the area. Take your child to the E.R or call your dentist. You can give your child Advil or Tylenol for pain. If it is a permanent tooth, rinse it off with water. Do not scrub it or remove any attached tissue fragments. Try to put the tooth back in place. Make sure it’s facing the right way. Never force it into the socket. If you are unable to put it back, store the tooth in a small container of milk (or cup of water that contains a pinch of table salt). In all cases, see your dentist or go to the E.R. as teeth can be saved if they are returned to

their socket within 1 hour of being knocked out.• Lost fillings or crown. As a temporary measure, stick a piece of sugarless gum into the cavity or use an over-the-counter dental cement and avoid eating on that side. If possible, put the crown back. You can use over-the-counter dental cement, or denture adhesive, to hold the crown in place. Do not use super glue! Contact your dentist as soon as possible and bring the crown with you!• Broken braces and wires. If it is poking your cheek, tongue, or gum, try placing chewing gum on the wire that is hurting you and call your orthodontist. Never try to cut the wire.• Abscesses (swelling) Dental infections are a serious condition that can spread to other parts of the body if left untreated. Go to the emergency room or emergency center to get antibiotics but you need to see your dentist as soon as possible.I hope neither you nor any family member has to deal with a dental emergency during the holidays. La tradición viajó de Roma por el mundo y en Colombia se enriqueció con cierto gusto familiar y barrial, porque si hay un momento en donde la gente se sume a sus vecinos en las calles, es en la noche del 7 de diciembre, que para la los creyentes de la Iglesia Catolica es la víspera de la Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepcion. Asi, son de admirar las creaciones que se hacen en Quimbaya, municipio de Quindío y el resto de Colombia, aunque no tan conocida en otros países Latinoamericanos.Estuvo animada por Casandra Andrade, hija de madre anglosajona y padre hispano, Casandra Andrade, residente de Weston, es una joven profesional con gran impulso y trayectoria quien sigue los pasos de su padre Fabio Andrade, un actual e importante líder comunitario. Y Contando además con Iván Van Hernández, polifacético talento colombiano, quien inicia su carrera como futbolista profesional en su país, modelo,

presentador, también incursiona como presentador general de noticias en Buenos Días Colombia y Weys T.V., de Miami, en la Radio Iván Van, también realiza múltiples facetas: Locutor Estelar de RCN, Cerros Stereo en Colombia(Música Romántica), Comentarista y voz comercial en Colmundo Radio (Deportes), Locutor Estelar de La Radio Difusora Nacional De Colombia 99.1 F.M. La espectacular escena del grupo musical, La Tuna de Weston, que nos alegró la noche haciéndonos recordar momentos que todo hemos pasado en nuestras fiestas entre familiares y amigos, también estuvo el grupo Macaco entre otros. Hola Amigos, Soy William Roberts, formalmente de

la Liga Nacional de Futbol Americano. Yo soy un veterano de 14 años, con tres apariciones en el Superbowl, ganando dos con los New York Giants y perdiendo el último partido en que yo participe en el Super Bowl contra los New England Patriots. Durante mi carrera, yo era un jugador muy talentoso y permanente de la línea ofensiva. Fui reclutado en la primera ronda en 1984 por los New York Giants. Parece que han pasado muchos años, pero el fútbol tiene una vida propia. Hace poco me pidieron que hiciera una columna deportiva en este periódico maravilloso que ustedes están leyendo en este momento, y me sentí humilde y emocionado de hacerlo. Hello Folks, I am William Roberts, formally of National Football League. I am a 14 year veteran, with 3 Superbowl appearances, winning two with the New York Giants and conceding the latter while playing with New England Patriots. During my career, I was a steady and very gifted offensive lineman. I was drafted in the first round in 1984 by the New York Giants. The carousel goes round and round. Also in December, the NFL teams get positioned for the big run; I’m talking about THE BIG RUN TO THE SUPERBOWL !!!! As we all know the college bowl games are set , with Alabama vs. Notre Dame going for the big one, and all the others such as Orange , Rose , Fiesta , Sugar, and then the middle tiers Peach , Gator , Cotton, and then we have the “I DON’T CARE BOWL”, and the “WHATELSE IS ON TV BOWL”. Do you get my drift, this is December. Among other good things, The Miami Heat is on their way to become architects of their next championship. December is a special month, so most of all I will say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone and wish me luck on my new endeavor. Doral gana su primer alcalde Venezolano

Doral pierde su jefe de la policía

El reciente triunfo de Luigi Boria, el primer alcalde venezolano en el Doral y en toda la Florida, espera brindarle un apoyo moral a la creciente comunidad Venezolana en el Doral y en todo el sur de la Florida.

Además, el millonario y pastor evangélico Luigi Boria, da una nueva esperanza a la comunidad Venezolana a la posibilidad de futuros puestos políticos en nuestra comunidad latina.

Según el ex jefe del Departamento de Policía de Doral, Ricardo Gómez, que fue despedido recientemente después que Boria tomo el mando de la ciudad, ha sido a causa de una “vendetta política”. Gómez, que dirigió la policía de Doral desde su incepción en el 2008, fue despedido por el administrador

municipal Merret Stierheim después de una investigación interna de la Ciudad y un reporte por la Policía Estatal (FDLE). La investigación reporto que en el 2011 Gómez interfirió en la adquisición de muebles de oficina y en la asignación de fondos para pagar una ceremonia en el Doral Resort & Spa.

effort. People who set specific, realistic and accountable goals are much more likely to achieve those goals than those who think about it but don’t take the steps necessary to achieve them. Setting and achieving goals for your small business shouldn’t stress you out. If you break it down into small pieces, it’s actually pretty simple. Here goes:Step #1 -- What’s Important to You?Decide upon the business-related goals that you would like to accomplish this year. Some of the more popular goals include improving customer service, delegating more, thanking your customers, updating your website, increasing networking and learning how social media can help your business. I’m sure you can think of many more!Step #2 -- Create a ListWrite each goal down on a separate sheet of paper, making sure that it’s specific (crystal clear), measurable (to determine success) and accountable (time frame). For example, your first goal might be to “improve customer service by decreasing

customer complaints by 50% by June 30th. Next, list what you think you need to do -- or what is involved -- in accomplishing those goals. You might consider having a secret shopper “shop” your business to give you feedback. Then you might want to consider incorporating a positive customer service component in your employees’ performance reviews. You might also want to research some free customer service training on YouTube or elsewhere on the Internet. Maybe you could put together a customer service policy that can be used for training employees. You get the idea! Step #3 -- Get Your Ducks in a RowPut that “to-do” list in chronological order and assign a date to each item. For instance, identify your secret shopper and commit to having him/her come during the month of February and to reviewing his/her results by the end of March. Explain the “new” customer service requirement in your employees’ performance reviews as they come up for annual review. Schedule the Internet research to be completed by April. And so on.

Step #4 -- Make a DateAs you assign dates to your list items, note them on a central calendar that you check on a regular basis (monthly is fine!). You could even use a Post-It note on the calendar. Whatever works for you, just as long as you check your progress as time goes by.Step #5 -- Celebrate Your SuccessMeasure your success. Goals need to be measurable to be effective. With our “improve customer service goal,” you would compare your customer complaints for the period this year compared to last year and see if you have 50% less complaints. If so, you’ve reached your goal; if not, you might have to tweak it and add another list item or two to accomplish it. Some goals may take time and others might be able to be accomplished in a matter of weeks. Keep reminding yourself why you’re working towards your goals; most likely, your reason is “to increase business.” That reason should be a powerful motivator! Best of luck, although if you follow these steps, you shouldn’t need it!

While Jenni Rivera’s remains rest in a funeral home in Long Beach, the California town where she was born, owner of the luxury aircraft that killed the singer is now being investigated by the DEA. The DEA, which earlier this year seized two of its aircraft as part of the its investigation is now probing Esquino Christian, owner of the plane where the singer died, who has a long history of trouble with the law. The DEA spokesman, said that the aircrafts of the Las Vegas firm Starwood Management Company were seized in Texas and Arizona, but gave no details of the case.

In 1990 Esquino pleaded guilty to one count of fraud arising from a drug investigation in Florida, and most recently was sentenced to two years in federal prison for a fraud case related to aeronautics in California. Upon his release he was deported. The agency also has asked the courts for all company records, and correspondence with Jorge Hank Rhon, a former mayor of the Mexican city of Tijuana U.S. who police suspect is linked to organized crime. Esquino says, Rivera was thinking of buying the Starwood plane for $250,000 and was offered the flight so she could try it out.
