Registered storytimes are continuing through the week of October 24th and include Baby Bounce, Toddler Time, Music

Movement and Stories, and After School Club. Call or visit the Youth Services desk for information and availability.

October Youth Events

Family Jam Tales

Every Monday at 6:30 p.m. Children of all ages and their families Length: 30 minutes No registration is required for this storytime, but space is limited. Join us for a storytime designed for the whole family. A wide variety of stories, music, and more will be shared.

LEGO Zone

Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. Ages: 3-12 years Length: 45 minutes No registration is required for this event, but space is limited.

Imagine, create, and BUILD! Join us for LEGO fun. We provide the Legos, and you provide the imagination. All materials must stay at the library, so parents bring a cam-era to capture your child’s creations. Any child age 5 or under must have caregiver present in the program room.

Fall Playtime

Saturday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. Ages: Birth – 5 years, not yet in Kindergarten Limit: 20 Length: 30 minutes Come and meet other children and parents while playing with toys, puzzles, puppets, books, and more! Caregiver must remain with child throughout the program.

Sensory Storytime: Jack-o-Lanterns

Wednesday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. Ages: 3-6 with a parent or caregiver Limit: 8 Length: 30 minutes If your child has difficulty sitting through a traditional storytime, this program of stories, songs, and activities may be just what you are looking for. Please let us know at registration if there are any additional accommodations your child may need.

Tiny Tot Arts: Music

Thursday, October 13th at 2:00 p.m. Ages: 18-36 months with a parent or caregiver Limit: 15 Length: 30 minutes Toddlers will explore music by singing songs and sharing a story. Then we will all play instruments and make our own beautiful sounds!

Monday, October 17th at 4:00 p.m. Grades: 3rd – 6th Limit: 20 Length: 1 hour Calling all witches and wizards!!! Have you ever wanted to make those magical potions with Professor Snape in your very own potions class? Well here is your chance, come join us for a fun filled program where we will be mixing a vari-ety of fantastic potions inspired by the Harry Potter series.

Galaxy Bottles Craft

Saturday, October 22nd Drop-In Between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Children of all ages and their families No registration is required for this program, but supplies are limited.

Stop by the library and create a unique craft – a galaxy bottle! Your very own little galaxy that you

can hold in your hands. Be a master of creation and drop in to create an out of this world craft.

Urban Legends

Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 p.m. Grades: 3rd – 6th Limit: 25 Length: 45 minutes Have you heard the legend of Bloody Mary or Slender Man? Do you know how those legends got started? We’ll share

our favorite urban legends and decide if some of them actually happened or not. If you’re not too scared, join us!

Frankenstein Friday

Friday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m. Ages: 3-5, not yet in Kindergarten Limit: 30 Length: 45 minutes We’ll read some frighteningly fun stories about Dr. Frankenstein’s monster and make a spooky craft. Children are wel-come to dress up, but it is not required.

Spooktacular Halloween Dance Party

Saturday, October 29th Drop-In Between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Children of all ages and their families What’s Halloween without a little dance party…a Monster mash of sorts? Come celebrate this spooktacular holiday with us as we move and groove to some kid friendly Halloween tunes! Costumes are encouraged for even more fun, make sure to bring your family, and stay as long as you’d like.

Trick-or-Treating @ The Library!

Monday, October 31st from 9:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

All dressed up and ready for Trick-or-Treating? Be sure to visit us here at the library. We’ll have treats of the non-candy variety to share with all the little ones dressed up in their costumes!

Find the Bat!

During the month of October a little bat will be hiding amongst the books in the Youth Services area of the library. A prize is given each day to the child that finds him first! This contest is designated for children birth – 6

th grade.

October Teen Events

These events are designated for teens in 7th-12

th grade. Registration is required using a Prairie Trails Public Library card

unless otherwise noted. Registration opens Monday, September 26th at 9:00 a.m. either online or in person.

Teen Advisory Board

Tuesday, October 4th at 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. No registration is necessary, but a Prairie Trails Library card is required. Need to earn service hours? Join our Teen Advisory Board! This is a great opportunity for you to earn hours AND take part in teen services at the library. At each monthly meeting you can share your thoughts and ideas on future teen pro-gramming and suggest titles to purchase for the collections.

Teens: Black Light Paint Night

Wednesday, October 12th at 6:30 p.m. Length: 1 hour Come explore the world of luminescence and ultra-violet light. Create artsy glow in the dark masterpieces using black light, paints, and other cool glow in the dark supplies. (Fun hint: wear white - it might glow!)

Stories & Sandwiches: Buzzkill

Saturday, October 15th at 1:00 p.m. Limit: 15 Length: 1 hour Join us for this teen book discussion and enjoy lunch from Jimmy Johns! We will be discussing

What Are You Eating?

Tuesday, October 25th at 7:00 p.m. Length: 1 hour Think you know can tell the difference between Dorito flavors without seeing what you’re eating? Can you tell the differ-

ence between Coke and Pepsi? At this event we will be taking a series of blind taste tests and putting your taste buds to

the test. What exactly ARE you eating?

Teens join in the Halloween spirit and vote for your favorite horror literary character! Are you a fan of

the classics like Dracula or Frankenstein or more modern tales like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar

Children? Stop by the library and let us know!
