Holiday 2016

What a year....

All that has happened has left us somewhat speechless. Forgive us for not attempting to make sense or give our take of Brexit, Duterte and Trump as there is enough of it swirling the internet.

We even feel bad that these things are sharing the page with what has ached the hearts of the Thai people since October 13th. We learned of the loss of our Great King, the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in a surreal way. As we were approaching Boston in a half wake state with breakfast service about to start, an attempt to try out the wifi on board was made. Emptiness and overwhelming loss at 35,000’ was a horrible way to start a 3-week trip and we could only resolve ourselves by offering our tearful prayers at his square in Cambridge with other Thai expats and a few compassionate and informed Americans.

The deep pain that started at that moment still goes on in us every day. What a great loss for the world that much of the world did not know. What an exemplary being that we were lucky enough to have witnessed. My only wish is his story can be told to the world and with all this selfishness and division that surrounds us today, people can see the graceful personification of the exact opposite and how it is possible to devote one’s life to doing good for others and to be truly loved for it.
