Instructions for Ornaments of Collection #1Handy tips:1. A pair of tweezers, hemostats, stiletto or a tiny crochet hook can be

extremely helpful when inserting the buttonettes into the eyelets. (Please see Picture 1 for explanation of “buttonette” and “eyelet” for 3D Ornaments.)

2. Insert the tip of the tweezers, hemostats or crochet hook into the eyelet, grasp the buttonette and pull through the eyelet.

3. A Stiletto could be used to “push” the buttonette through the eyelet.4. The ornaments look and wear better when left fairly stiff. When the design is

fi nished stitching, wash the design lightly so that some of the water soluble stabilizer stays in the design. It is better to hold the ornament gently and allow the water to fl ow through rather than working at it or scrubbing the lace.

5. If item becomes too limp to work with, dissolve scrap pieces of water soluble stabilizer in warm water and apply to the item to re-stiffen.

3D OrnamentsRound Ornament (with Appliqué)1. Follow the General Free Standing Lace Guidelines (page 9) and Cut In Place

Appliqué Instructions (page 9) and stitch 2 of design FSL Round Ornament Piece with Appliqué – OC01901.

2. Leaving the stitched pieces fl at, follow the General Cut Satin Instructions (page 11) and Cut Satin Guides (page 12); then add embellishments such as glitz crystals, sequins or beads.

3. With the 2 stitched pieces back to back (fronts facing out), insert the buttonette into the eyelet, continue until all buttonettes are inserted into the eyelets.

• Please note: to add a hanger to your ornament do not insert the last buttonette into the eyelet.4. To add a hanger to your ornament follow Hanging Your Ornament Instructions page 10).5. To complete the ornament, button the last buttonette into the remaining unused eyelet.

5 buttonettes are inserted in the 5 eyelets of the other piece (Picture 2: there will be a buttonette at the tip of the narrow piece that does not fi t into an eyelet at this time).

4. Continue Step 2 until all 6 narrow pieces are buttoned together; complete this part of the construction by inserting the buttonettes from piece 6 into eyelets of piece 1. Sit this construction to the side.

5. You will notice on the remaining, unused, stitched piece there are buttonettes and eyelets on each of the sides of the petals (see Picture 3 on next page); begin by buttoning 1 side of buttonettes (indicated by red arrows in Picture 3 on next page) into the adjacent eyelets (see black arrows in Picture 3 on next page).

• Please note: It is easier to button from the center down to edge (see Picture 3 for start here reference).6. Next, locate the center eyelet on the buttoned pieces (see Picture 3 for orange indication for the center eyelet); button 1 of the

top, unused buttonettes from narrow constructed piece into this center eyelet.

7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all sides are together and center eyelets are attached to narrow constructed piece. • Please note: to add a hanger to this ornament, do not button the last sides together until after step 8.8. To add a hanger to your ornament follow Hanging Your Ornament Instructions (page 10).9. To complete ornament, button last 2 sides’ together and last buttonette from narrow construction into last center eyelet.

embellishments such as glitz crystals, sequins or beads.3. With 2 of the 6 long narrow stitched pieces (Picture 5 on next page) side by side, insert the buttonettes into the adjacent

eyelets, continue down the side until all 4 buttonettes are inserted into the 4 eyelets of the adjacent piece (there will be a buttonette at the tip of the narrow piece that does not fi t into an eyelet at this time).

4. Continue Step 3 until all 6 narrow pieces are buttoned together; complete this part of the construction by inserting the buttonettes from piece 6 into eyelets of piece 1. Set this construction to the side.

5. You will notice on the remaining, unused, stitched piece there are buttonettes and eyelets on each side of the petals coming from the center piece (indicated by black arrow and red arrow in Picture 4 on next page) and 1 buttonette at the tip of the petal (indicated by blue arrow in Picture 4 on next page); lastly locate the eyelet in the center of the petals (see orange circle for the eyelet in Picture 4 on next page).

6. Next, on the narrow constructed piece that you set aside from step 4; locate the unused, center eyelet (see blue circle on Picture 5 on next page) and locate the unused top buttonette (see orange arrow in Picture 5 on next page).

7. With 2 of the petals, insert the 1 side buttonette (indicated by the black arrow in Picture 4) into the adjacent side eyelet (indicated by the red arrow in Picture 4).

8. Then, from the narrow construction, insert the top buttonette (indicated by orange arrow in Picture 5) into center eyelet on petal (indicated by orange circle in Picture 4).

9. Next, insert buttonette from the tip of the petal (indicated by blue arrow in Picture 4) into center eyelet of narrow construction (indicated by blue circle in Picture 5).

10. Repeat steps 7 through 9 until all sides are together and narrow construction is attached to top piece.• Please note: To add a hanger to the ornament, do not button last petal until after step 11.11. To add a hanger to your ornament follow Hanging Your Ornament Instructions (page 10).

12. To complete ornament, follow steps 7 through 9 to button the last pieces together.

Flat Ornaments1. For all fl at ornaments follow the General Free Standing Lace Guidelines (page 9), Cut In Place Appliqué Instructions (page 9), Cut Satins

Assemble Hanger:Twist one screw eye into a foam ball.1. Cut desired length of ribbon and thread it through the screw eye. Tie loose ends to 2. form a loop.
