INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

DEAR PARISHIONERS:

This Monday, January 23rd, is a day for prayer. The Catholic Church has asked us all to set aside these 24 hours as a Day to Pray for the Legal Protection of the Unborn. On January 22nd, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court enacted its sinful decision to al-low abortions on demand. The killing of innocent chil-dren was legal. A woman could choose to end the life of her unborn child. What was God’s choice now became a mother’s choice. To begin & end life was no longer up to God but to us. How wrong this was! As Catholics we believe that only God can take life. That is why the Church is not for euthanasia or capital punishment. Life is a GOD-GIVEN gift. And that GOD-GIVEN life is to be ended by God, in God’s time. Not by us. This Monday is a day to pray for the end of abortions; a day of reparation to pray for the respect of all life; a day to pray for a change of heart in our Supreme Court mem-bers; a day to reflect on our own life & to give thanks to God for gifting us with each breath. It is a day to recommit ourselves to doing all we can to be a promoter of life from the womb to the end of natural life. Will we use Monday as a day of reflection & prayer? May these days renew our hope & strengthen our resolve to see God’s presence in all those around us, & to respond to His presence with dignity, justice, & respect for all. YOUR PRO-LIFE PASTOR, FATHER JOE P.S. Next Saturday evening you are busy. Right? You have your ticket bought for our annual Dinner Dance & Auction. Right? If not, WHY NOT? This is our major fundraiser for our school, thereby helping our educational opportunities at HFCS to increase & be enriched. How thankful I am for the past years of support through the DDA. Let’s make this year’s a continued success story! THANKS to our two co-chairs, Marianne Stehr & Jen Krafka, for all their work, & KUDOS to all their crew & all volunteers!
