What does Holy Communion mean to Christians?

• It is a reminder of Jesus’ death that took away their sins

• And God’s love in sending Jesus to be their saviour

• It is an opportunity to focus on his self-giving love

• It can be a personal & comforting service

• Roman Catholics usually call this service “Mass”

• They also believe that the bread and wine actually turn into the physical body and blood of Christ

• The Church of England and Roman Catholic churches generally they use wafers instead of bread

• In the Church of England and Roman Catholic Church, usually the priest serves the wine

• It is blessed and so must be used only at that time, the rest must be consumed or thrown away
