Configuration of Jesus Crucified...The major superiors, provincials and vice-provincial of the members of the Configuration of Jesus Crucified held their annual meeting in the provincial house in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, which lies to the north of both Rio de Janeiro and Saõ Paulo, Brazil. The configuration is made up of: Holy Cross Province, St. Paul of the Cross Province, Our Lady of Peace Vice-Province, Cristo Rey Province, Calvary Province, Exaltation of the Cross Province and Immaculate Conception Province.
The host province, Exaltation of the Cross, is two years old and is composed of three former regional vicariates in Brazil. The provincial superior, Giovanni Cipriani, was an excellent host, and the collaboration of others in the community made for a fraternal and enjoyable stay.
Formation issues received most of the discussion time because the configuration has combined/shared its formation efforts at every level leading to ordination. In a similar way, the fund for solidarity in formation is the one which sees the most movement, since there are also plans underway to host configuration-wide meetings for those who are in their first years of ordained life, and for those who are in initial formation, leading to ordination.
Francisco Murray, Argentina/Uruguay, was elected the new President of the configuration. Our gratitude to Moises Rios of Puerto Rico, whose term as President was completed with this meeting.
In addtion to the President, elections were also held for chairpersons for a three-year term: Joe Moons, United States, chair of the financial commission; Amilton Manoel Da Silva, Brazil, chair of the formation commission; and Carlos Saracini, Argentina, chair of the personnel commission.
The annual meeting in 2017 will take place in Calvary Province, Saõ Paulo, Brazil.
(l-r): Aurelio Miranda, Brazil; José Ramón Montañez, Puerto Rico; Joe Moons, United
States; and two participants of the meeting with the laity.
