October 21, 2018 - 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time “For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 If you held a mirror up to your life, would it reflect God’s love and mercy? If you are struggling with this, try changing your attitude from “I want more” to “thank you God for everything you have given me, I have enough to share”. This change in perspective will bring you joy through service to others.

October is the month of Mary. The Rosary will continue to be said half an hour before each of the Sunday masses.

As this is the third Sunday of the month, there will be a second collection today to help us towards our year’s budget. Thank you.

Today is World Mission Sunday. We celebrate this day by remembering the revitalizing mission at the heart of our Christian faith – to bring the Gospel to all.

The collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith ensures the work and service of the Mission Church, as it supports priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Thank you for your generosity.

Holy Rosary Cathedral vacancy position for Maintenance Supervisor/Caretaker. For inquiries and further details, please call the office 306-565-0909.

Archbishop’s Appeal. Today the gospel invites us to achieve greatness, not by material gain or influence or power over others, but by the awareness of our lowliness to which we depend on God for everything. What we have are God’s gifts and are meant to serve the needs of others. Only through service to others can we truly reach the greatness that the Kingdom of God requires. In giving to the Archdiocesan Appeal, we join the many souls in their best effort to reach the greatness of life of which all are called to achieve.

Today after the gospel, we will watch the message of Archbishop Don Bolen about this year’s annual appeal.

Caritas, (from the Latin ”love and compassion”) one of the largest aid and development agencies in the world, was founded in Germany in 1897. In 1954, Caritas International was officially recognized. In 1967, Pope Paul’s encyclical on “the development of peoples” asks “each and every man to hear his brother’s plea and answer it lovingly”, and that “development” is the new word for “peace”. Thus came to be The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada. Caritas Canada Is Development and Peace!
