Collect for Today
Let us pray.
Silence is kept
Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections
of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire
what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of the world,
our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through
Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen
The Proclamation of the Word
A Reading from the Book of Jeremiah
The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new
covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like
the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand
to bring them out of the land of Egypt a covenant that they broke, though I
was their husband, says the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law
within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and
they shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another, or say to
each other, "Know the Lord," for they shall all know me, from the least of
them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and
remember their sin no more. Jeremiah 31:31-34

Psalm 51 - Hymn: #605 Have Mercy, Lord on Us
A Reading from the Letter to the Hebrews
Christ did not glorify himself in becoming a high priest, but was appointed by
the one who said to him, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"; as he
says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, according to the order of
Melchizedek." In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and
supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him
from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although
he was a Son, he learned obedience through what he suffered; and having been
made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,
having been designated by God a high priest according to the order of
Melchizedek. Hebrews 5:5-10

Please remain standing for the Gospel
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. John
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ
Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks.
They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him,
"Sir, we wish to see Jesus." Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and
Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the
Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls
into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears
much fruit. Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in
this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me,
and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father
will honour. Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say - 'Father, save
me from this hour'? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour.
Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified
it, and I will glorify it again." The crowd standing there heard it and said that
it was thunder. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him." Jesus answered,
"This voice has come for your sake, not for mine. Now is the judgement of
this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am
lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." He said this to
indicate the kind of death he was to die." John 12:20-33
The Gospel of Christ. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Sermon
The Nicene Creed
Let us confess our faith, as we say,
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is,
seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
Pag

he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father.
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic
and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Prayers of the People
Confession and Absolution
Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; God
welcomes sinners and invites us to this table. Let us confess our sins,
confident in God’s forgiveness.
Silence is kept.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
Pag

have mercy on us and forgive us,
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your
sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal
life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Peace
Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has given us access to his grace.
The peace of the Lord be always with you
And also with you
Please share a sign of Christ’s peace with others
Offertory Hymn: #200 We Sing the Praise of Him Who Died
Prayer over the Gifts
God our provider, you have not fed us with bread alone, but with words of
grace and life. Bless us and these your gifts, which we receive from your
bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Great Thanksgiving
It is indeed right and good to give you thanks and praise, almighty God and
everlasting Father, through Jesus Christ your Son. For in these forty days
you lead us into the desert of repentance that through a pilgrimage of prayer
and discipline we may grow in grace and learn to be your people once again.

Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven,
we laud and magnify your glorious name; evermore praising you and
singing:
Blessing and glory and thanksgiving be unto you, almighty God, our
heavenly Father, who of your tender mercy did give your only Son Jesus
Christ to take our nature upon him, and to suffer death upon the cross for our
redemption; who made there, by his one oblation of himself once offered, a
full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of
the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to
continue, a perpetual memorial of that his precious death, until his coming
again.
Hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech you; and grant that we
receiving these your creatures of bread and wine, according to your Son our
Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution, in remembrance of his death and
passion, may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood;
who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread; and, when he had
given thanks, he broke it; and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this
is my body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of me.”
Likewise after supper he took the cup; and when he had given thanks, he
gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my blood of the
new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins:
Do this, as often as you shall drink it, in remembrance of me.”
Wherefore, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, we your humble servants,
with all your holy Church, remembering the precious death of your beloved
Son, his mighty resurrection, and glorious ascension, and looking for his
coming again in glory, do make before you, in this sacrament of the holy

bread of eternal life and the cup of everlasting salvation, the memorial which
he commanded:
We praise you, we bless you, we thank you,
and we pray to you, Lord our God.
And we entirely desire your fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our
sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, most humbly beseeching you to grant,
that by the merits and death of your Son Jesus Christ, and through faith in
his blood, we and all your whole Church may obtain remission of our sins,
and all other benefits of his passion;
And we pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit, all we who are partakers
of this holy communion may be fulfilled with your grace and heavenly
benediction; through Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom and with whom, in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be unto you, O Father
Almighty, world without end.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Lord Jesus, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Every time we eat this bread and drink this cup
we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Compassionate God, you have fed us with the bread of heaven; Sustain us in

Christ, our Saviour and Lord. Amen.

Amen.

needs, concerns and hopes of the world to the church, is a living reminder of
the community’s call to servant hood. A Deacon is to enable the church to
be justice makers, truth tellers, advocates and reconcilers in the world.”
