The Muon loudspeaker project is the convergence of famed industrial designer Ross Lovegrove’s aesthetics and KEF Engineering’s expertise in the physics of sound. The effects of this careful engineering are impressive and offer outstanding dynamic precision and delivery of clearly defined sonic imagery over a listening area no conventional speaker can rival. Muon is fabricated from super-formed aluminium utilizing a moulding process similar to high performance sports automobiles. Limited to an edition of 100 pairs, signed by the artist and serialized, white glove installation by KEF Engineering on premises.

Unlike glamorously radical concept cars that never see production, we decided the original Concept Blade project was simply too good not to take a step further.

Encouraged by all the reviews, and to mark KEF’s 50th Anniversary, the design team was given the go-ahead to develop this stunning concept for production.

We devised ingenious applications of different new materials to replicate the shattering performance of the original. We perfected a method of manufacturing the

complex parabolic enclosures. The drivers gained sophisticated enhancements to recapture the magic of listening to the one-off prototype.

What was previously thought impossible has now become reality. Every single component operates so comfortably within its performance envelope that they work

together as a single, flawlessly coherent unit - in effect, a giant full range Uni-Q driver array.

Featuring many of KEF’s latest innovations in premium hi-fi and home theater loudspeaker technology, the R Series makes genuine audiophile standards of

entertainment more affordable than ever before. Stunningly fluent new Uni-Q driver arrays combine with potent new bass drivers and many ingenious refinements to create a rich, spacious sound image of such accuracy that it approaches the benchmark standards of KEF’s Reference Series.

The Uni-Q driver array featured in KEF R Series is a masterpiece. Midrange response is amazingly fast and clean, thanks to a braced magnesium/aluminim alloy cone, with

KEF’s Z-flex surround smoothing the transition to the front panel and a sturdy die-cast aluminum chassis that prevents resonance being transferred to the cabinet. At the acoustic center of the midrange cone is the sophisticated vented tweeter - the very same used with KEF Blade - providing such startlingly pure HF response. The new bass driver is equally impressive. The combination of a massive vented magnet assembly and a large lightweight aluminium voice coil driving a light, stiff and strong hybrid cone assures clean, deep and uncompressed bass output with superb dynamics and power handling.
