The Lilith Legend:

Someone brought up a question and comment about the story of Adam’s “first” wife Lilith.

Has everyone heard about this? Who can share what you know about this story?

-----------

It is just a story, a legend. And… it is not Biblical. Let’s turn to the Word and see what God says.

Genesis 1:(KJV)

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and

over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

(AMP)

26 God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea,

the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.

27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 2:(KJV)

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

(AMP)

18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

(KJV)

19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

In Matthew 19:4-5, the Lord Jesus combined quotations from Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. He declared: “He who made them from the beginning made them male and female [1:26], and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh

[2:24].”

So Lilith is just a story and a legend but is not true at least from a Biblical view point. So end of story.

However, this story and the passages that we have read lead us to talk about current events. I am sure that all of you by now have heard about the

profound current events that has swept our Nation this week.

1- Confederate Flag Controversy2- Supreme Court Decision on ObamaCare Subsidies

3- Supreme Court making Gay “Marriage” Legal

Question: How will this decision effect you and me? How will it affect us as Christians? How will it affect the church?

2 Timothy 3:1 But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times

of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].2 For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of

money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous,

scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.3 [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and

inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in

morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.4 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-

conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.

5 For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the

genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them].--------

13 But wicked men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and leading astray others and being deceived and led astray themselves.

14 But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them],

15 And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in

Christ Jesus [through the [b]leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power,

wisdom, and goodness].16 Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and

profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness

(in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),

17 So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

What should we do now?Pray for strength. Pray for boldness. Pray for revival. Pray for an

awakening. Pray for the church. Pray for each other. Pray that Jesus comes quickly.

Let’s pray.
