With a reputable brand and well-established industry partnerships we offer one- and two-year Diploma level courses, many unique to the FRA and the UK’s only accelerated Fashion Degrees across a range of specialisms including Buying, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Design, Digital, Merchandising and Retail Management. WORK PLACEMENTSAll of our Level 4 and some Level 3 courses include a two- or three-week high-quality work placement with a major fashion brand.

INDUSTRY WEEKOur twice-yearly industry weeks are perfectly timed to provide an unrivalled opportunity to network and apply for roles within major fashion brands.

FLEXIBLE DELIVERYOur fully funded one- and two-year courses are available to students aged 16–18 at Diploma Levels 2, 3 and 4 across a range of subjects. Two-year accelerated degree courses run over three semesters rather than two to get students into employment as quickly as possible. Adult learners (19+) can choose from our Traditional (1 year) or Fast Track (22 week) courses.

SPECIALIST TUTORSOur tutors have all worked in the industry in their chosen field, and many still do. They come with a vast amount of knowledge, experience and contacts to support students at every stage of their development.

STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIESOur state-of-the-art modern facilities just minutes away from Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road and other major rail stations, has recently benefited from a multi-million pound facelift. OUR COURSES

Our courses are designed for flexibility to allow FRA students to work part-time which enables them to fast track to meaningful careers in the fashion retail industry.As well as developing theoretical, creative and analytical skills, students learn organisational, time-management and project management skills, building their confidence and helping them to develop the team working and interpersonal skills necessary for the real world.

Level 2 DiplomaFASHION RETAILThis one-year Diploma course is designed to introduce students to fashion retail and design and give a comprehensive view of the industry. This option is perfect for those who aren’t sure which specific area of fashion retail or design they would like to go into, as it covers a diverse spectrum of subjects.

Level 3 DiplomaFASHION RETAILThis two-year course enables students to learn about the fashion retail environment as a whole, from what happens on the shop floor, to the importance of a brand’s digital presence. This is essential for understanding the structure of a fashion business, and also how the various roles all function and intersect.

Level 3 Diploma FASHION DESIGN This two-years course covers a range of design principles used in the fashion industry like illustration, design development, construction and presentation. Projects combine theoretical elements and practical application giving students an invaluable set of skills demanded by universities and the fashion industry.

Level 4 DiplomaFASHION RETAIL (Marketing & Business)A one-year course examining and exploring the behaviour of today’s consumer using analytics and data to offer an insight into how brands are positioned within the market to appeal to their target audiences.

Level 4 DiplomaBUYING AND RANGE PLANNINGA one-year course teaching in-depth about fabric construction, costing, sourcing and manufacturing to turn ideas into reality. Students gain insight into Merchandising and how to interpret data to inform buying decisions.

Level 4 DiplomaMERCHANDISING FOR FASHION A one-year course exploring the impact of historical, social and cultural factors affecting the industry and the impact of globalisation. Students learn how to understand analytics and financial data to interpret sales and forecast future volumes.

Level 4 DiplomaBUYING AND MERCHANDISING Delivered over 22 weeks, students learn about customer profiling and consumer behaviour, trend history and development, turning trends into commercial range plans, garment technology, use of fabrics, costing and sourcing, manufacturing regions and critical path management.

Level 4 DiplomaDIGITAL MARKETING FOR FASHION A one-year course covering a broad range of topics, focusing on the marketing skills needed to generate and maximise online sales through marketing via websites and social media and how to create and implement marketing strategy.

Level 4 DiplomaGARMENT TECHNOLOGY A one-year, hands-on, course offering a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the world of

Garment Technology: the entire life cycle of a garment, starting from the initial development with Designers and Buyers, through to the fitting and testing process, and then into mass production.

Level 4 DiplomaVISUAL MERCHANDISING A one year course about historic and cultural influences in fashion. Students gain an understanding of window design principles, including the use of lighting, colour, props and products. Includes learning design software skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. 6-WEEK FASHION CONVERSION COURSEA conversion course for those with a non-fashion degree. Through a mixture of taught lessons, workshops, retail visits and personal development, students build a holistic view of a retail business, and develop the skills and knowledge required to enter a head office role in a variety of areas e.g Buying and Merchandising, PR, e-Commerce.

FASHIONING FUTURES INDUSTRY TO TEACHING PROGRAMME

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAMME?The programme runs over five months from October 2020 until February 2021.You must be able to commit to 2.5 hours one evening each week and one Saturday per month for teacher training across the duration of the programme.

You will need to complete a minimum of 30 hours of practical teaching practice at the FRA to successfully graduate from the programme. There will also be written assignments to complete in your own time.

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAMME CONSIST OF?The programme combines an accredited Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training with what we call FRA 2.0_DNA where you learn about what makes our approach to education unique and transformational for our students. The programme has a strong contextual and practical focus to equip participants with the skills and confidence necessary to succeed as teachers from the outset, in the same manner we develop our students to prepare them for the industry.

As you progress through core units of the teacher training programme we immerse you in relevant aspects of our students educational journey through practical placements in coaching, mentoring and tutoring, curriculum planning and design, assessment and feedback processes, product development, business planning and strategic and innovation projects.

Collaboration and co-learning are at the heart of how we do things at the FRA. The practical placements will enable you to develop your practice in the real world and our students get to benefit from your invaluable industry and professional expertise.

The delivery model for the programme is blended virtual and in-person reflecting the shift in delivery methods in education and our approach at the FRA.

FLEXIBLE PROGRAMME DESIGNThe programme has been designed to allow distinct exit routes as you progress through core modules of the teacher-training programme. As you complete modules on coaching, mentoring and tutoring, curriculum planning and design, assessment and feedback processes, product development, business planning and strategy and innovation, you will be offered opportunities for practical in-house placements on those subject areas. You may choose to exit the programme at distinct junctures and work for us in those specialist areas or you may choose to continue and develop through the full programme that will enable you to be the best imaginable teacher.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROGRAMME?There will be a number of different projects and job opportunities available throughout and after the programme in the form of flexible contracts.

relevant specialist skills ● Inspiring and passionate about the industry● Interested in a change in career or you would like to create a portfolio

career where you can build on your industry experience ● Passionate about making a positive difference and changing lives● Passionate about young people and education.

ELIGIBILITY You must have considerable professional experience in the fashion retail industry in your own business or in head office roles or a combination, along with specialist skills in one or a combination of subject areas including Buying and Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Retail Operations, Public Relations, Fashion Design, Garment Technology, Marketing, e-Commerce, Digital, Social Media and Communications, Graphic & Digital Design, Data Analytics, Global Retail Markets, Fashion Sustainability etc. Qualifications:

● Minimum grade C/4, or above, at GCSE level in English and Maths

● A first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area

It is essential that you are:
