When base coating, mix 1:2 paint and sealer. One part paint to two parts sealer. I used a large makeup sponge to paint the background. Dip the sponge into clean water. Wring out all the water you can. Dip into sealer then paint and sponge the surface. Use enough paint so you will get a good coverage with one coat.

Repeat with a clean sponge on the green. Let dry. Sand for a smooth surface.

PREPARATIONTrace to oval. See above. Paint the background with Antique White. Paint the oval with Jade Green. Let dry. Sand.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSANTIQUE WHITE BACKGROUNDUsing a fl at brush or angular, dip into clean water. Blot out most of the water. Shade the boards going across, around the oval, inside and out with Honey Brown. Pull shade lines across the boards. Repeat with Burnt Umber to darken shading.

OVAL SIGNUsing the paper tape, tape off the oval. Cutting on one side (see photo) so tape will fi t. Using the buff alo plaid stencil, place over the jade green and sten-cil with Green Tea. You want just a lighter shade of green. Let dry.

Trace on the letters or if you have a stencil with the saying you like and it will fi t, use it. Paint the letters with Black. Highlight with Lt Buttermilk.

HOUSEPaint the house with Napa Red. Paint the roof, door and windows with Black. Highlight with Lt Buttermilk. Add brick lines and smoke with Lt Buttermilk on the chimney. Paint the star with Golden Straw.

BACKGROUNDPaint the moon with Golden Straw. Shade with Honey Brown. Highlight with Lt Buttermilk. Lightly outline with Burnt Umber. Paint the stars with Honey Brown. You can use a stencil if you have one this size.

SHEEPStipple the sheep with Honey Brown using the stencil brush. Let dry. Paint the face and tail with Black. Let dry. Now stipple the sheep again with Lt Buttermilk. Us-ing the liner brush, paint the legs with Black. Highlight ear, tail and paint eye with Lt Buttermilk. Using your liner brush and Black to paint on some squiggle lines.

FENCE AND GROUNDPaint the post with Honey Brown. Shade with Burnt Umber. Highlight with Lt Buttermilk. Using your liner brush, pull down some Black grain lines on the post. Paint wire with Black. Wash Burnt Umber across the bottom. Wash in a little Black under the door.

FINISHINGUsing the end of a med size paint brush, paint dots around the edge of the background and oval sign with Black. Dip the old fan brush into clean water. Blot out on paper towel. Mix with Black to thin down the paint with fan brush and load at the same time. Tap the brush on the handle on another brush to remove any blobs over a trash can. Then tap over the surface to spatter. Repeat with Lt Buttermilk. Let dry. Spray with several light coats of Sealer. Hang with jute. Tie rag bow on jute.
