Homework are tasks set by teachers that are “supposed” to help students with

their learning. These tasks are completed at home. There are a

variety of homework tasks such as spelling, reading and maths. Here are three important reasons why I think

homework should NOT be compulsory in primary schools.

Firstly, homework stops us from playing with our friends. I think playing with our friends is more important than homework because we need to get

fresh air outside and we have to have some social interaction. Also, if we

played outside then we would become fitter and having social interaction with

friends is vital because we need to catch up on the gossip. If we are doing homework then we wouldn’t have any social interactions with our friends and

we wouldn’t become fitter.

Secondly, homework stops us from going on the computer. e.g Mathletics.

I think going on the computer is more important than homework because we

can go on educational websites that help our brain such as Mathletics, Times

Attack and Spelling City. Therefore, I don’t think homework needs to be done

because we can go on educational websites that help our brain just as much and these are more fun than sitting down

and completing homework tasks on paper.

Finally, homework stops us from watching t.v. I think watching t.v is more

important than homework because we have just done 6 hours of school work

and we need time to relax. If homework is compulsory in primary school then we have no time for our brain to relax and watch t.v with our afternoon tea. This would affect students learning because their brains would be to tired to process

anything at school.

I strongly believe that homework should NOT be compulsory in

primary school because it stops us from playing with our friends, it

stops us from going on the computer and it stops us from watching t.v.
