FINE FORGIVENESS DAYSeptember 27 | All Day
Do you have some long overdue books you’ve been worried to bring in?
Or perhaps old fines that have kept you away from the library? We miss you and want you back! We have two great options for getting your current library account back in good standing for you to use again.
Overdue Amnesty – Bring back your overdue library materials on
September 27 and the library will forgive your overdue fines on those items. Check our FAQ page to find out what charges are eligible.
Read Down Your Fines – Spend 10 minutes reading in the library on
the 27th, and whittle off $1 of overdue fines. You can read up to 100 min-
utes to take $10 off of your account balance. Pick up your reading form on
September 27 from the Reference Desk (2nd Floor) or the Children’s Desk.
We are celebrating library cards with some special events, including free snow cones and fine forgiveness!
A Manhattan Public Library card is free to people residing in our 12-county
service area: Chase, Clay, Dickinson, Geary, Lyon, Marion, Marshall, Morris,
Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee, and Washington.
With a card, you have access to our digital resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as our physical collection of books and media to check out.
Register for a free library card online, then bring your photo I.D. and proof
of address to the library’s check out desk. Parents and legal guardians can
get library cards for their children (ages 0-17) with this same process.
