About the Institute
Sou. Sushila Danchand Ghodawat Charitable Trust's, Sanjay Ghodawat Group of Institutions has been established in 2009 with an objective to run along the lines of best in the world education and become a world class institution where teaching-learning processes get a far deeper meaning. The Institute is situated near Atigre village on state Highway No.3 (Kolhapur-Sangli) at distance 18Km from Kolhapur, is spread across 17.92 hectares in serene atmosphere amidst idyllic hills and lush green meadows.
The growth of institute is spectacular in the short span of only six years. The institute is ISO 9001-2008 certified, Accredited A Grade by NAAC. Recently NBA Accreditation peer committee had visited to the Institute and the results are awaited. As a learning institute, SGI continuously looks at the future while striving to make significant contribution towards professional education. Keeping abreast with the changes in the industry and corporate world, the institute provides conducive learning environment, which is a fine blend of intellectual minds and excellent infrastructure.
The Institute presently offers five UG courses in various engineering disciplines and PG courses under faculty of Management and Engineering.

One Week Faculty Development Program on
Fundamentals of Structural Dynamics and Application to Earthquake Engineering
th th7 - 12 December, 2015
Objectives
Outline and Scope
About 60% part of India is vulnerable to earthquake. Recent earthquakes in Nepal (2015), Bhuj (2001), Killari (1993), Uttarkashi, Koyna (1967) have shown that India is seismically active. Basically earthquake is a dynamical and random phenomenon and the prediction about its location intensity, direction & consequences on the structures can only be based on probability theory. Structures never collapse due to earthquake but it's a human error that causes such calamities. It becomes very essential to understand the dynamics in the structure and comprehend non-deterministic events like earthquakes. This one-week faculty development program is intended to know the basics in structural dynamics, computational methods and practical aspects in earthquake engineering. This program is aimed at developing skill up gradation of faculty & brief them about the recent developments in structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. The program begins with consideration of geological aspects of earthquakes, structural dynamics and then gradually leads to codal provisions and advanced topics in retrofitting and base isolation. The short course will be of immense interest to the faculty members, research scholars, practicing engineers, architects and consultants.
To introduce the principles of structural dynamics and earthquake engineering and to apply the knowledge for Analysis and Design of various Civil Engineering Structures subjected to dynamic loading.
To provide opportunities & ensure skill up-gradation of faculty to enrich teaching-learning process through continual improvement in both content and delivery of course.
