    5AT with Paddle Shift

The unique Paddle Shift gear option allows you to switch gears without using the clutch pedal.

The 5AT (Automatic Transmission) allow you to change gear ratios automatically-freeing you

from having to shift gears manually. The right paddle is for shifting up while the left paddle is forshifting down, which is the same as for an F1 machine.

In D-range mode, the driver can shift up and down by using the paddles, while automatically

returning to normal AT driving mode when a sensor determines the car is cruising. On the other

hand, in S-range, the mode does not revert automatically to AT driving mode, which allows the

driver to enjoy a manual transmission-like driving feel.

    Manual Transmission

The City boasts of a smoother wire type manualtransmission gear shift with hydraulic clutch. As

compared to a rod type, wire type operating system

makes for a much smoother gear shift. The gear shift

has good moderate stiffness, and thanks to a

shortening of the sleeve stroke of the synchronizer, is

also much lighter. What's more, the clutch utilizes

hydraulic pressure to reduce the force needed during

    PERFORMANCE

    ENGINE:

  • 8/8/2019 Honda in India

    20/24

    New 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine

A new advanced i-VTEC engine delivers 180 PS with

optimum fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions. Powerful

acceleration and a broader torque curve across the RPM

    band are its hallmark.

    Drive-by-wire

The Accord uses Drive-by-Wire technology. The system

uses an electronic position sensor connected to the

accelerator pedal that sends an electronic signal to the

    Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Intelligent 5-speed Automatic Transmission with Paddle

    Shift

Inspired by Honda F1, an electronically controlled Intelligent

5 speed Paddle Shift takes driving comfort to a new level. It

uses the engine's broad torque curve for brisk acceleration,

optimal fuel economy and smooth shifting. A shift hold

control system reduces unnecessary gear shift up in

cornering and supplies acceleration after making a turn.

    SUSPENSION:

    Advanced Suspension

The advanced Double Wishbone Suspension in the front

    uses both lower and upper control links for better cornering;

maneuvering in an emergency. A new multi-link rear Double

Wishbone Suspension ensures a smooth drive. It also

provides more stability for taking faster turns. Higher front

and rear roll centres improve handling and provide a more comfortable drive. Overall the new

Accord delivers an improved response, better road grip reduced tyre input and lesser pitch and

    roll.

New Platform Chassis and Rigid Body

Underbody airflow management significantly reduces drag

and lift in the Accord. This is achieved by an engine under

cover, a flat floor design with the frame mounted inside the

    body and rear floor cover.
