IMPORTANT The following is for information purposes only and serves to inform applicants of the

possible components to be included in a portfolio submission. Portfolio requirements are

subject to change from year to year. Do not submit any portfolio materials unless

specifically instructed to do so, after applying to the program. Once you have applied to this

program, specific portfolio instructions and submission details will be provided to you in

your Sheridan Student Account.

Selection Process for Applicants

Candidates to the program will be selected based on their academic achievement (in

progress or completed) and the results of their Portfolio and Letter of Intent evaluation.

Note: transcripts and grades are NOT used in assessing the portfolio and letter of intent.

Applicants selected for the program will be notified by mail and on their Sheridan

email account. Classes for the fall term begin Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

After applying to the program, applicants will be required to submit a portfolio and

Letter of Intent, and register online for a portfolio assessment. Applicants will receive

registration and submission instructions.

Please do not submit any portfolio materials unless specifically requested to do so after applying to the program.

Portfolio: 1. 10 -12 pieces of your strongest photographic work to date that demonstrate your

engagement with photography as a form of personal expression. Image sequencing

is an important factor in the evaluation of your submission.

2. A minimum of 10 out of 12 pieces must be printed photographs.

Letter of Intent:

Submit a Letter of Intent detailing your photographic experience so far, your goals as a

photographer, and how choosing Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Photography program

would help you attain those goals.

Your Portfolio and Letter of Intent will be evaluated using the following criteria:

• Your ability to follow the above detailed instructions and include all required

items

• Your Letter of Intent should provide evidence of serious involvement with

photography, awareness of photography as a profession, evidence of

knowledge of Sheridan's Honours Bachelor of Photography program and

your reasons for choosing this program.

• Your portfolio should provide evidence of active exploration and

experimentation with a variety of subjects, genre, visual approach, and

techniques.

• Your portfolio should provide evidence of engagement with composition and

design and intent to express ideas.
