Brag Sheet Hope-Hill Elementary School
Hope-Hill Elementary School is a Title 1 school in the Atlanta Public Schools System. The school maintains two computer labs, one for the lower grades (K-2) and one for the upper grades (3-5).
Due to a lack of ownership and the absence of a full-time Technology Specialist, the labs are severely underutilized.
Tyler, 8 years old, demonstrated some of the learning games played in the Hope-Hill lab. The children really seem to like Sumdog.com for mathematics. Tyler said to me, [if I dont have an opponent from my class], I just play with other kids from around the world. Amazing!
The Technology Specialist looks for creative ways to foster technology integration in teaching. This weekly Fabulous Friday email blast serves as a motivator for teachers.
Students love using computers for learning. At Hope-Hill, computers are used for test preparation, testing, and educational gaming. Gaming provided differentiation in instruction.
