Integrity and Pride Our SRC executive attended a conference in Melbourne last Tuesday. They joined with over 700 students from across the state to learn and share ideas around how to become better student leaders. Our SRC publicity officer, Maddy Cashill, commented “the conference was really in-formative and it motivated us to make change.” Maddy went on to say that the conference has inspired our student leadership group to think outside the square and to realise that they can bring about positive changes for students and the College. Maddy, Chloe McGee (SRC Presi-dent), Jacob Holm (Vice President), Shiarne Petschel (Secretary) and Samantha Sharp (Treasurer) represented our College at the state-wide leadership conference. A key take-away from the con-ference was around the need to maintain integrity in leadership and to build school pride.
Parent Teacher Student Interviews By the time you read this newsletter the Parent Teacher Student Interviews will be over. It was certainly pleasing to see the full list of bookings made for most teachers. The Compass booking system enabled parents to select the times they wished to meet with teachers provided they weren’t pre-booked. First in … as the saying goes. More impressive, however, was the interest shown by parents and students in meeting with teachers. Bookings were much heavier this year, which is extremely pleasing. If you get a few minutes, please give us feedback through Compass or email on how easy/difficult it was to book interviews online and feedback on the timing (day of the week, timing during the term) so that we can continue to improve our processes. Some staff were unavailable for interviews today due to part-time work or prior commitments. If you wish to meet with them or with any other staff member you may have been unable to see today, please call the College and make an appointment.
Working Bee Thanks to the parents, students and staff who attended the working bee last Friday. We covered a huge amount of work. The pizza oven area was cleaned out, dead trees and foliage removed, gardens were rejuvenated and preparations were made for the forthcoming athletic sports. The flag poles were fixed and considerable work was done on sweeping and tidying. A wonderful job by a willing band of helpers.
Presentation Ball Excitement is certainly high amongst the presentees as the big day draws closer. Saturday night at the Memorial Hall promises to be a glittering affair when the students are formally presented to the Official Party then dance the night away in celebration. I hope you can come along to join in the glamour of the event.
College Council Hopetoun P-12 College elected office-bearers for 2018-19 at last night’s annual meeting. The office-bearers are:
President – Simon Cook Vice-President – Jamie Frankel Secretary – Viv Penman Treasurer – Natasha Anderson Executive Officer – Graeme Holmes
Three sub-committees have been established; Finance, led by Natasha Anderson, Grounds & Buildings led by Nicki Bellinger and Policy led by Graeme Holmes.
Coming Up: We have a number of important events coming up for the College. A few of these include:
Athletic Sports for Years 7-12, Thursday 29th March. Term 2 commences Monday 16th April. Curriculum day, Tuesday 24th April – no students are required at school.

SRC NEWS In last week’s SRC meeting, our SRC team decided on our first fundraiser idea for 2018! From
Monday March 19th there will be a ‘Guess How Many Easter Eggs are in the Jar’,

SRC Publicist,
Maddy C
Thank you
On behalf of everyone on School Council, I would like to thank the parents, staff and students who attended the working bee
on Friday night.
It amazes us how much work can be completed within a few hours
with all hands on deck. With your hard work and dedication our 5 year plan is taking shape .
A special mention to Flynn Grace and Mali and Bonnie Horman
who worked tirelessly to pitch in and do their bit for the school.
Thank you.
Simon Cook
