Introduction
Hopscotch Montessori Nursery School in Oxted is a small setting with a reputation for
providing excellent quality education and care. We attract children from Oxted,
Godstone, Caterham, Edenbridge, Westerham and outlying villages.
Hopscotch Montessori Nursery we follow the Montessori Philosophy which
emphasises the individuality of each child. We believe that children learn best in
their own way at their own pace. The driving concept is the nurturing of the child's
natural joy of learning.
Hopscotch Montessori Nursery in Oxted is accredited with the Montessori Evaluation
and Accreditation Board which aims to ensure that all schools using the Montessori
name offer high quality education and care to children. It also acknowledges and
supports good Montessori practice.

Our Mission
At Hopscotch Montessori Nursery each child is valued as an
individual. Our driving concept is to nurture the child’s natural joy
of learning empowering them to learn in their own way at their
own pace.
In a safe and stimulating child orientated environment our
children can explore and learn freely encouraging them to
become the best they can be. We aim for our children to leave us
independent, capable and valued members of the community.

environment for every child in which each can explore and learn
freely.
Goals
To meet the requirements of the EYFS whilst upholding the principles of
The Montessori Method
To encourage children to learn for themselves and to be able to make
choices and decisions
To encourage independence and confidence within your child
To acknowledge that parents are the primary educators and to work
closely with parents to gain knowledge of each individual child and
their experiences
Staff with Montessori Qualifications and/or experience are on duty at
all times.
To make your child aware of the wider world by providing opportunities
to experience and learn about multicultural practices.
To promote mutual respect for others and the environment.
To promote a child led learning environment allowing each child to
develop according to their own needs and potential.
Age
Children can attend from their 2nd birthday to school age
Admission
A place is allocated to a child on receipt of a completed Registration Form and the
£50 non-refundable registration fee. We recommend that you visit Hopscotch
Montessori Nursery during one of our open days before completing the form.
Forest School
We have a Forest School on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for children age 3 and
above between the hours of 9.30 and 12.30. It is held off site in local woodland and
costs £20 per session with minimum enrolment of 6 sessions. Free Education
Entitlement hours can not be used for Forest School. Forest school is closed for the
Autumn term.
Free Educational Entitlement
Currently all 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours free pre-school education the
term after they turn 3. Additionally some 2 year olds are also eligible to 15 hours free
pre-school education. At Hopscotch Montessori Nursery these hours are available in
multiples of 3 or 5 and there is an additional cost for the morning and afternoon
sessions for 3 and 4 year olds.
Hours
Hopscotch Montessori Nursery is open term time only for 38 weeks of the year.
Monday to Friday 09.15 – 15.30
There are 3 sessions available per day
Session Time
Morning session - short 9.15 to 12.30
Morning session - longer 9.15 to 13.30
All day 9.15 to 14.45
Extended day 9.15 to 15.30
Children on morning sessions and full days will need a pack lunch and morning
snack as we eat in the main hall at 12pm. Children attending afternoon sessions will
not need to bring a packed lunch/snack as we would expect the children to have
eaten lunch prior to arriving at Hopscotch.
A charge which is in excess of that of the pro rata hourly rate will be levied if children
are collected after these times without prior arrangement.
Meals
Fresh milk and water are available to the children throughout the session. Snacks
and lunches are provided by the parents.
Nappies
There is not a requirement for children to be toilet trained.
Nappies and creams to be supplied by parents.
Other settings
We recommend that children only attend one setting. Please note the EYFS states
that “providers must enable a regular two way flow of information with parents
and/or carers and between providers if a child is attending more than one setting.”
Parents
We work in close partnership with parents. The well-being of the child is dependent
on good relationships between staff and parents based on mutual respect.

Funding for FEET (2 year olds) children is fully covered.
Extra hours can be purchased at a rate of £6.50 per hour.
Children must be collected on time. Late collection will incur a charge of £20 plus £5
for extra 15 minutes or part thereof.
Fees are payable termly in advance and a full term's notice must be given in writing
when a child is to leave nursery, otherwise a full term's fees must be paid. Full
payment must be received within 14 days, unless alternative arrangements have
been agreed, otherwise a charge of 10% will be levied. Refunds will not be made for
holiday taken in term time, sickness or closure due to adverse weather conditions.
Our day
09.15 Children arrive, hang up coats and change into their indoor shoes.
09.20 Work cycle begins. Children choose their activities and work with the
materials throughout the morning.
Snack Available throughout the morning until 11.30. The children choose
for themselves when they would like snack.
Outside play The garden is available for the children throughout the morning.
They are free to go in and out as they please.
11.45 Circle time including a story, singing, “telling our news” and
changing the calendar.
12.00- 12.30 Lunch
12.30 Morning only children Shoes on and go home
12.30 -13.00 All day children Quiet time after lunch - listen to
music/ story
13.00 Afternoon only children arrive Take off shoes/coats and change
into indoor shoes
13.15 Afternoon work cycle and activities begin
Outside play The garden is available for the children throughout the afternoon.
They are free to go in and out as they please.
15.15 Everyone gets ready to go home. Change shoes and put coats on.
15.30 Collected by parents.
Afternoon Activities
Each day we have a focussed activity available, one in the morning and one in
the afternoon. Children are encouraged to join in on these.
These activities are included in the fees.

We will try to accommodate your preference but this is not always possible.
Terms and Conditions
A non-refundable registration fee of £50.00 is charged to reserve your child’s
place. Please pay by BACS to 60-24-28, account 11651210, quoting your child’s
surname as the reference.
For the convenience of parents /guardians the nursery is open and fully staffed
for 38 weeks of the year. We therefore regret that there is no reduction fee
for any absences from nursery for holidays or sickness or if the nursery needs
to close due to adverse weather conditions.
Fees are payable termly. Invoices are issued at the end of each term in advance
of the following term and payment is within 14 days. Late payments will be
subject to a surcharge of £20.
Leaving. 1 terms notice in writing or 1 terms fees in lieu of notice is required
when a child leaves the nursery. Reducing days - 4 weeks written notice is
needed if you wish to reduce your days.
The school reserves the right to increase fees with 1 terms notice.
In the term before your child starts you will be invited for a short induction
session where you will be given a Welcome Pack containing an Enrolment Form
which must be returned as soon as possible.
A charge of £20 per 15 minutes or part thereof will be levied if children are
collected late without prior arrangement.
I confirm I have read and understood the terms and conditions provided with this
information and request a place is reserved for my child as detailed above. I
understand that a full terms notice is required should I no longer require my child to
start at Hopscotch Montessori Nursery otherwise I will become liable to pay the first
terms fees in full.
