The Horizon Group began operations in 1990 and rapidly developed a successful reputation in fulfilling our clients’ mission critical human capital searches. Our clients have come to rely on us to fill positions that are vital to their ongoing business operations in capital markets, investment banking, and information technology. For more than 2 decades The Horizon Group has expanded into other industries, but our commitment to aligning ourselves with our customers’ business goals remains constant.

As an example, when a large European bank sought entry into U.S. capital markets, it chose The Horizon Group to conduct a complete analysis of the marketplace and a subsequent strategic deployment of our recruitment resources. That European bank’s U.S. franchise completed its goal of being counted amongst the globe’s leaders. When one of the world’s largest insurance companies undertook a complete restructuring of its derivatives franchise, Horizon was able to fill strategic roles in various locations around the globe in a time critical manner, allowing the client’s operations to satisfy the continual demand of real time execution and counterparty expertise necessary for success.

Clients such as a large commercial bank, a hedge fund, or a candidates like a global head of options trading, or a fixed income salesperson, have requirements that are characteristically unique. Incorporated in 1990 and based in New York, The Horizon Group began operations as an executive search firm and human resources management consulting company focused on U.S. domestic contingency and retained search. The core business units at that time were Capital Markets and Information Technology. Over the past twenty years The Horizon Group has diversified and continued to grow their executive search and staffing practices in the following areas:

Since opening its doors in 1990, The Horizon Group has proven itself a leader in capital markets search and recruitment. The Horizon Group conducts its search practice both internationally and domestically, and is divided into five core business units. Fixed Income Products, Credit, Rates and StructuredThe fixed-income division, managed by Mr. David Grossman and Mr. Thomas Angello, CPC, concentrates its search activities on the global debt markets, with a particular emphasis on the placement of mid to senior level executives in Rates and Credit, liquid or structured. The Horizon Group has always enjoyed tremendous success in New York, London, and the Pacific Rim as the global debt markets become increasingly more interdependent upon one another. This growing trend toward globalization and the continued cultivation of institutional emerging capital markets has poised The Horizon Group to take further advantage of an industry-wide need for intelligent and confidential staffing resources.

Financial Engineering and Risk ManagementThe Financial products division is a combined effort managed by Mr. Thomas Angello and Mr. David Grossman. Its primary focus is in derivatives sales, trading, risk management, and quantitative research, with particular emphasis on the longer-dated, non-generic, options-related products in the equities, fixed-income, currency, and credit markets. The Horizon Group strives to remain at the forefront of this constantly evolving business and has achieved a pre-eminent reputation for its success in special situation searches in such areas as credit derivatives, equity-linked debt and funding products, insurance derivatives, and hybrid, cross-market products.

Financial Systems and Technology ManagementThere is little doubt about the role that technology continues to play in driving the creation of a vast array of new products on Wall Street, the likes of which is entirely unprecedented and has revolutionized the nature of financial services around the globe. No one person understands that better than Mr. Arthur Banks, who, after a successful career as a senior account manager for Digital Equipment Corporation, founded The Horizon Group’s technology search practice in 1990. This practice conducts search in the areas of front and mid office technology development professionals in a multitude of roles and at various levels, ranging from production-oriented programmer-analysts to chief information officers in both permanent and consultancy roles.

Wall Street Legal and ComplianceDue to increased regulation, the demand for Wall Street legal and compliance professionals has grown tremendously and will continue to do so.  With this understanding, Ms. Elaine Lerner has been focusing on the needs of financial institutions for over eight years, while adhering to an approach of maintaining high ethical and professional standards which treat all market participants with the utmost respect. Combining Elaine’s depth of understanding of the Wall Street legal and compliance environment with Horizon Group’s strong financial industry intelligence enables us to assist our clients at every level of search, from compliance analyst to deputy general counsel.

Corporate and Investment BankingMr. Eric Grell specializes in new business development as well as the full cycle recruitment of Investment banking candidates into positions from entry level to senior level executive roles within Structured Finance, Loan Administration, Relationship Management, Credit, Risk and Trade Finance. Prior to becoming an executive recruiter, Eric spent 16 years working at the JP Morgan Chase Private Bank as a Vice President. Eric handled sensitive and high level portfolios of high net worth individuals, family offices and corporate executives. In this role, Eric was responsible for maintaining the client’s banking relationship, while also promoting the cross selling of Private Banking and new business development within his client base. Eric graduated from Hofstra University with a BS degree in Banking and Finance.
