GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe TT­HBM & T­HBM series ­ table type and t­type horizontal boring mills ­ are designed to process middle size prismatic workpieces made of cast iron, steel, aluminum or other materials. The workpieces can be machined by the same clamping on four or five surfaces by the following rough or finish operations: boring, drilling, milling, threading and counterboring.

The machine control is achieved for the following working axes:

TECHNICAL DETAILSHeadstockThe headstock is a heavily ribbed cast iron structure with counterweighs lined with anti­friction material. It houses the belt driven cartridge spindle, 2­ranges electrically shifted gearbox, spindle motor, rotary encoder for spindle orientation, tool clamping and W­axis drive system. The 2­range gearbox and cartridge spindle are temperature stabilized by oil cooling.

ColumnThe column is made of special cast iron, internally ribbed. It is designed on a rectangular cross section shape and it has on its right side two prismatic guideways made of alloy steel plates, hardened and ground. The counterweight used for the balance of the headstock, is vertically displaceable inside of column, guided on two rails. The Y axis is driven via a large diameter pre­loaded ball screw with an AC servo motor. The Y axis feed mechanism is placed onto the column top. The guideways are protected by covers.

BedThe bed is designed as a special cast iron construction, internally ribbed, fixed on foundation by leveling blocks, and it is provided with two prismatic guide ways made of alloy steel plates, hardened and ground, protected by steel telescopic covers. The "Z" axis feed mechanism is placed onto the bed.

Electric equipment ­ Electrical cabinet ­ Control panel­ Measuring rotary encoders or linear scales for the travels of the movable elementsThe electric equipment on the machine includes: AC motors, electric wiring on the machine, connection boxes, actuators and control elements, encoders. The connecting cables between machine and cabinets are protected in flexible tubes, cable carriers and channels.

Rotary table The rotary table ­ made of special cast iron ­ is provided with "T" slots for the work piece clamping. The table is supported by an accurate roller bearing mounted on the cross slide. The table turning is achieved by an AC brushless electrical motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a teeth belt reducer and two pre­tensed pinions, with a backlash­free operation. The rotary table can be automatically index and could be locked in any posit ion hydraulically. The table rotation is measured and checked by an accurate rotary encoder.

CrossslideThe cross slide, of cast iron, has on its upper side circular guideways for the rotary table and its lower side has guideways. The cross slide also accommodates the mechanism for the table locking. The slide "X" axis displacement feed drive is done by an AC brushless electrical motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF speed reducer and a ball­screw ­ nut mechanism. The slide displacement is measured and checked by an accurate encoder.

The main spindleThe steel spindle shaft is nitrated, hardened and ground, supported by high accuracy bearings. The boring spindle "W" axis axial displacement feed drive is done by an AC brushless electrical motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF speed reducer and a ball­screw ­ nut mechanism. An accurate encoder, on the drive ball screw, measures and checks the main spindle rotation speed and the axial displacement.

SaddleThe saddle, of special cast iron, is has on its upper side prismatic guideways plated with hardened alloy steel plates, protected by steel telescopic covers. The lower sideways are plated with friction­free materiall, with lubricating slots. The saddle "Z" axis longitudinal displacement feed drive is done by an AC brushless electrical motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF speed reducer and a ball­screw ­ nut mechanism between the two bed guideways. The saddle displacement measurement and check is achieved by accurate linear scale mounted onto the bed
