Sound: non-diegetic sound like a piano and xylophones, it starts quiet then gets louder, also during this scene there's a machinery sound that then relates to the scene. It is done in a repeated pattern.

Editing: opening titles fade in and out, titles continue into the scene, a cut from looking into the telescope to the eye to the stars, during fast paced music the sequence with blurs, flashes, zoom in and out, eye line match (match and action)

Titles: specific font throughout the whole sequence. Scary/bold font that fades in and out.

The name of the movies production title

After the opening titles the scene starts out with a man working we know this because of the setting since it is done in a laboratory with computers and a telescope, which tells us he is researching. We see codes in this movie which is the logo below. This is shown in the movie because most horror films have a personalised object that can be used throughout a movie. And in this movie it is this logo. It is also shown in the next scene.

Costumes/props:

The man is wearing long, black clothes, which shows connotation of power and darkness. Telescope and computers are shown so therefore it seems as though he’s a scientist.

The setting is first shot at a science lab at night it looks like this person is researching.

Camera shot: low angle to show the depth in the room and the dark background. This presents the character as high and powerful

This camera shot is extreme close up because you can see his eye and the details on it. He is looking through the telescope which signifies to the audience that he is doing a job.

This is what he finds, it obviously means something terrible is going to happen. And you can tell by his facial expression in this close up.

Mise-en-scene

This is the next scene which is at a library or study room which presents it as dark, gloomy and quiet. Low key lighting. Only the candle shows light.

You can see its supposed to look like its in the olden days because of the stylish ink pen and italic writing, books for research, magnifying glass, someone wearing glasses, candle, Religious person because of the cross and clothing, language and symbolic codes.

After all those images shown It shows at the end that someone was researching all the stuff that happened in the beginning.

The man researching also looks at this book which is similar to what the guy at the lab looked at. The camera shot is done close up of this book to show the audience that it means something.

Sound:The scene cuts then a fast paced non diegetic sound comes with instruments like drums and bass guitar almost like a pulse. During the scene there's instruments such as the harp and violins which you can tell is being played really quickly. This makes it more tense for the audience and shows what type of genre it is.

Camera:

The shots in this scene is all close up as you can see. The close up shows what this person is looking at and the pace it’s going in shows that this person is researching something very important.

Editing:

The editing during this scene has a lot of fading in-between the shots of the research. In this shot the it shows the last text the man had looked at and it slowly fades into him to show he’s the one looking at all this. Technical code is used so that way the film maker can use these shots then edit them into a scene to tell a story.
