2Hospital Training
As per the curriculum of our course we are suppose to do a summer training during our semester break.
I did my Summer training at AMRI Hospitals ,Mukundapur . One of the most renowned international level hospital .
This project report gives an overview of the different medical equipments that are being used in various departments like the Critical and Intensive Care Units, Imaging and Radiology Unit, Neonatal Unit, etc. of AMRI Hospitals . The features of the equipments have also been listed in this report.
3Hospital Training
AMRI Hospitals, Mukundapur started as the first boutique multi super specialty healthcare facility in Eastern India
AMRI Mukundapur is a comprehensive healthcare treatment facility equipped with state-of-the art International standard equipment. The unit is currently functioning as a 170 bedded multi super specialty hospital. The best aspect about the hospital is the soothing ambience at par International Standards and highly professional staff who manage the latest technology.
4Hospital Training
The Hospital consist of a total of 170 beds .
The Hospital is designed in a great manner and the respective Departments of each floor is given below in details .
BASEMENT : CSSD ,Department of Biomedical Engineering, Facility and Maintenance,HR Department.
GROUND FLOOR: Emergency, Reception, Radiology,MRI,CT Scan,Laboretory.
FIRST FLOOR: Cardiology, OPD.
SECOND FLOOR:PICU,NICU.
THIRD FLOOR: Operation Theater,Cath lab.
FOURTH FLOOR: CTVS,Neuro ICU , ICU/CCU ,Dialysis.
FIFTH FLOOR: Gastroenterology, BMT Department

Operation Theatre is a facility within a hospital where surgical operations are carried out in a sterile environment. Historically, the term "operating theatre" referred to a non-sterile, tiered theater or amphitheater in which students and other spectators could watch surgeons perform surgery.

1.Surgical gloves.
It prevents contamination between doctor & patients
2. Caps & Mask Protective cap covering hair.
3. Glasses
Surgeon with magnifying lenses over his glasses. These lenses
magnify the area being operated on, allowing precise surgery
to be carried out.
4. Apron/ Surgical Dress.Protects from blood stains etc..

1.OPERATING TABLEMulti-Purposed Side Controlled Operating Table
2. Surgical Ceiling LightsSurgical Light is a medical device intended to assist medical personnel during a surgical procedure by illuminating a local area or cavity of the patient. It was first used in 1880’s

Monitors display different output parameters of the patient which help the doctor in diagnosing. Ex: ECG monitor.
3. Monitors.
4. Anaesthesia MachineAssists patients breathing during surgery.Invented by: William T. G. Morton on 16 October 1846
12Hospital Training
5. Heart Lung Machine.Invented by: John Heysham Gibbon in 1937.The first heart lung bypass machine was first used on a human in 1953.
6.INTRA AORTIC BALLOON PUMP (IABP)
The IABP helps to increase the blood supply to the heart pre and post surgery if the contraction of the left ventricle is not enough .

7.Heater-Cooler Machine:
During the procedure, hypothermia ismaintained; body temperature is usuallykept at 28ºC to 32ºC (82.4-89.6ºF)
8.DEFIBRILLATOR
9.SUCCTION MACHINE
Defibrillation is a common treatment for life-threatening cardiac dysrhythmias cardiac and ventricular fibrillation.
To take out excess fluids from different body parts like fluid accumulated in the lung, excess secretion from the trachea, etc.
14Hospital Training
10.ENCOSCOPY SYSTEM
12.Neuro operating Microscope
15Hospital Training
STERILIZATION & DECONTAMINATION OF SURGICAL THEATRES
Why?1. Cleaning removes contaminants, dust, organic matter. 2. Disinfection reduces number of microbes
Fumigation Process
16Hospital Training
The 8 weeks training was a very fruitful experience
for me. It helped me to enhance my knowledge
regarding the various equipments that are being used
in the medical field in modern times. The detailed
study of the instruments helped me to understand the
principles which I have studied during my Biomedical Engineering course.
