day. Evaluate the atmosphere.

Page 3: Hosting the presence (part 8)

Ensure that you understand Worship Affects Nations.

Worshippers are in a place to call nations into their purpose, into their God-

given destiny. Worship the LORD intensely each day. Evaluate the atmosphere.

Introduction• REVIVAL is spreading throughout CHURCH of

the LORD JESUS Christ. It is an REAWAKENING to LIFE and PURPOSE. REVIVAL is necessary for GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT. It is God’s heart being poured out upon His people. It is the catalyst to the journey. Revival is the FIRST STEP to more. It is a step that every church, every ministry, every believer- you, me and the entire body of Christ- must take. Revival is the FIRST STAGE. “After two days He will revive us: on the third day He will raise us up that we may live in His sight” (Hosea 6:2).

Page 5: Hosting the presence (part 8)

Introduction• What does it mean to “REVIVE”? The word

“REVIVE” (hayah) means “to LIVE, CAUSE TO LIVE, a RESTORATION of LIFE” (Genesis 45:27; Judges 15:19). In the Psalms (71:20; 80:18; 119:25,37,40,88; 143:11), the word is used to signify being “made alive”, to be “comforted, refreshed”. The KJV renders it to “quicken”, to renew; to flourish again; to revive again. It is the picture of plants and flowers sprouting, shooting up, and blossoming “again”. The key word is “again”. The word “REVIVING” (mihyah) means PRESERVATION or MEANS of LIFE (Ezra 9:8-9). Notice the both words end with YAH (He is or exists), which is the root word for YAHveh. GOD is the REVIVER!

Page 6: Hosting the presence (part 8)

Introduction• In the New Testament, the word “REVIVE” (anazao)

means to “LIVE AGAIN” (Romans 7:9; 14:9). In 1 Maccabees 13:7 (the Revised Version- British and American) we have “And the spirit of the people revived” (anazopureo- to stir or kindle up as a fire). The same word is used in 2 Timothy 1:6, “stir up the gift of God, which is in you” (anazopureo- to stir or kindle into flame). In view of the frequent modern use of “REVIVE” and “REVIVAL”, it is worthy of notice that it is to Timothy himself the exhortation is addressed. We too often merely pray for “REVIVALS”, forgetting that it is for us to “stir into flame” the gift of the Spirit which we have already received of God. It is ours from Him, yet it is dormant, as a slumbering ember. REVIVAL starts from within us!

What does revival look like?

Page 19: Hosting the presence (part 8)

During a revival, God supernaturally transforms believers and non-believers in a church, locale, region, nation, or the world through sudden, intense enthusiasm of His presence.

Page 20: Hosting the presence (part 8)

People sense the presence of God powerfully; conviction, despair, contrition, repentance, and prayer come easily; people thirst for God’s word; many authentic conversions occur and backsliders are renewed.

Revival and awakening are, generally, synonyms. The larger the geography a revival covers, the greater the tendency to call it an awakening. Note America has a deep, rich history of revivals and awakenings.

Is America Ripe for Revival Today?

Red-Letter Revival

Matthew 18:20 states, “For where two or three are gathered in My NAME,

there am I among them”. Identify two people in this room. Purposefully decide

to pray for revival at the same time each day until

next week.

Page 45: Hosting the presence (part 8)

Evaluate your life. What signs indicate

that you need revival? How will stir the flame of revival in

your life?

Conclusion• We’ve not had an awakening in America of historic

proportion for a long time. With such a great tradition of revival and awakening, a great base from which to start, and a great need to counteract the increasing moral and spiritual decline, our nation appears ripe for a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit. But history tells us that national revivals and awakenings cannot be manufactured. They are sovereign acts of mercy and grace by God Himself, when He supernaturally achieves in a short span what seems otherwise impossible. However, God loves to respond to the prayers of His people (2 Chronicles 7:14). While the decision belongs to God alone, He gives us the privilege of hastening the day through humble repentant prayer. Let us pray…Until the church ignites with revival…
