    One Mans Opinion

Part IIts been an exciting three weeks here in the HOT SPOT World.First there was our 13th Anniversary Party at Frozen Paradise. Thiswas the first time the HOT SPOT had its own party and I didntknow what to expect. A lot of our older readers and friends dontregularly come to Frozen so I wasnt surprised they didnt show up.But YES, we had a GOOD TIME. We drank, uh something, I think it was punch, yeah, thats right, punch. We danced and laughed and talked and ate and laughed and talked and danced again. Wegave away HOT SPOT Tee Shirts and we took pictures. What more could you ask for? Everyoneenjoyed themselves. I want to thank Lakhman, Art (DJ Postman) and Mary for everything they did. Ialso want to thank everyone who came out to make the night special.

I better mention, that the day after the first party we went to my parents for the First Gilyard /

Gilliard / Ketter Reunion. I saw family members who I hadnt seen since my teens and others whowere toddlers when I left home. More eating, and laughing and talking and games and prizes and alittle bit of dancing.

Then there was my 60th Birthday Party at Mutuals. There was a MUCH bigger turnout. Harvey, yes Isaid Harvey, prepared some Fantastic Vittles. My sister Linda came down for the party which madeit so much better. With DJ Dirty Reed Playing the Grooves that Make You Want to Move RealSmooth it was Party, Party, Party, Sit Down, Catch Your Breath, then Party, Party, Party all night.Somewhere in between, we ate and took pictures. Ill bet everyone who was there had a Face Achethe next day from smiling so long. Thanks to the Mutuals and Harvey Tucker and everyone whocame out and celebrated with Joan and I, It was GREAT. Oh yes, Mary from Got Balloons did the

decorations at Frozen Paradise and Mutuals and at the AFTER Party a week later at..

Rosettess on Waters. Evelyn and her crew were ready for us. The food lived up to their reputationand then some. An added attraction was Karaoke on the patio. So this time we danced less, butlaughed and talked and smiled just as much, we just added singing to the mix. The crowd wassmaller but the Fun was just as Big. There were a lot of folks who made two of the three parties, sosomething GOOD was going on.

I almost forgot to mention, Joan and I also had our Wedding Anniversary and Joan had her classreunion (more Party and Laughter and Fun and Food) during this period of Partyfication.

So, A Great Big THANKS, to everyone who did the preparations, who partied with us and for every-

ones well wishes. This will be a time Ill always remember fondly. All in all, its been a Great threeweeks. I would say Im partied out, BUT well be on a cruise to Bahamas on Friday. Im SURE Ill justbe reading and resting and reading and restingor something like that.

Just, One Mans Opinion.Live Long and Prosper

About 2 years ago my wife and Iwere on a cruise through the west-ern Mediterranean aboard a Prin-cess ship. At dinner we noticed an

elderly lady sitting alone along therail of the grand stairway in themain dining room. I also noticedthat all the staff, ships officers, waiters, busboys, etc., all seemedvery familiar with this lady. Iasked our waiter who the lady was,

expecting to be told she owned theline, but he said he only knew thatshe had been on board for the lastfour cruises, back to back.

As we left the dining room oneevening I caught her eye andstopped to say hello. We chatted

and I said, "I understand you'vebeen on this ship for the last fourcruises." She replied, "Yes, that'strue." I stated, "I don't understand"and she replied, without a pause,"It's cheaper than a nursing home."

The pirate replies "We was caught in a mon-ster storm off the cape and a giant wave swept

me overboard. Just as they were pullin' meout, a school of sharks appeared and one of'em bit me leg off".

"Blimey!" said the sailor. "What about thehook?"

"Zounds!" remarked the sailor. "And howcame ye by the eye patch?"

"You lost your eye to a seagull dropping?" the

    sailor asked incredulously.

Once upon a time there was a famous sea

captain. This captain was very successful at

what he did; for years he guided merchant

ships all over the world. Never did stormy

seas or pirates get the best of him. He was

admired by his crew and fellow captains.

However, there was one thing different

about this captain. Every morning he went

through a strange ritual. He would lock

himself in his captain's quarters and open

a small safe. In the safe was an envelope

with a piece of paper inside. He would

stare at the paper for a minute, then lock it

back up. Afterwards, he would go about

his daily duties. For years this went on, and

    his crew became very curious.

Was it a treasure map? Was it a letter from

a long lost love? Everyone speculated

about the contents of the strange envelope.

One day the captain died at sea. After lay-

ing the captain's body to rest, the first mate

led the entire crew into the captains quar-

    ters.

He opened the safe, got the envelope,
