One Mans Opinion

Part ILets see whats been going on. The NoPubicans Blinked, now theyhave to find another way to try to make fight with the president. The

Falcons finally won another game. I guess they can still go 12 & 4

and make the playoffs as a wild card. 9 & 7 might even be enough to

get them in. SMPD stays in the news, Im just waiting to see how this

all plays out.

Part IIThe SPLOST is going to be the next Big Thing over the next few weeks. The supporters and detrac-

tors will both be spending Big Bucks trying to capture your vote. My feeling is, this is one area where

we can at least See some of the results. Question, Is the money dispersed fairly across the city andcounty? No. Question. Are there projects that benefit, the inner city? Yes, but not as much as youd

think. A community center here, a sidewalk there, a ditch here, a road there and zillions to build a jail.

Now the next BIG project is an arena for the...Ice Capades, Roller Derby, Corporate Conferences or is

it for Beyonce or B.B. King or Miguel? Hmmm. The bottom line is, Im going to vote for the

SPLOST. I voted against the T-SPLOST last year, but that was a different story. If it had included a

high speed rail from here to Macon to Atlanta I would have voted for it. I guess thats just a dream.

Anyway.

Part IIIWhat else is going on? MaRandys Restaurant and Lounge has opened in the old Cyranos location onMLK. The renovation looks good and the food is still great. Theyre open seven days a week and the

hours are good. You can get a full meal late in the evening. Now I ask you, where else can you get

some vodka and chitterlings at the same place at the same time. Yes, I had that combination the other

night and Im pleased to say. I WILL do it again.

You may have noticed in the last issue, that were distributing down in the Hinesville and Fort Stewart

area again. Its been a few years since we had any advertisers there and were happy to have them.
