One Mans Opinion
Part II figured it out. My Falcons decided they wanted the first pick in nextyears draft Even though they had a decent showing against the
Saints, they still lost. So, I guess Ill be watching and rooting for
Carolina and/or New Orleans for the rest of the season.
Part IIIt seems like every week theres something going on with our police department. Resignations, sexual
innuendo, lawsuits and threats of lawsuits. If these goings on werent so serious, it would make a heck
of a sitcom or at least a movie of the week. Im really interested in seeing how it all plays out. It
makes one wonder if the department was so dysfunctional, how was it kept quiet for so long and how
can we rely on anything that came out of those offices, such as crime statistics. Its going to be an-other one of those wait and see thingies.
Part IIISpeaking about wait and see. Ive been watching and reading about with some interest the CAT
request for funding a streetcar system. (I was on the CAT Board of Directors for a few years). Person-
ally, Im not really feeling the need for a system just yet. From what Ive read I dont think the pro-
posed system covers enough area. You can go to the CAT website for more details. I can see parallel-
ing MLK or further west or maybe East Broad to downtown but youd also need something in be-
tween, probably near Bull Street. Also, how far south do you need to go, 37th Street? Victory Drive?
Derenne? Who knows, personally, I think Id like a subway better. How about a train, going to the air-port or to Hilton Head or reviving the train to Tybee? (At least they couldnt check your license plate
then). I think any major changes to this system will be years in the making. Look how long it took to
get the new station done downtown. That was on the drawing board before I left the CAT Board, 10 -
12 years ago.
BTW, I think its just wrongfor the officials on Tybee to record the comings and goings of persons
on the island through license plate recording. What purpose could it serve other than an attempt to de-
ter visitation. Its no secret that the residents dont want certain segments of the population to visit the
Public beaches and that this is just an attempt to frighten them away. Shame on you Tybee. Im still
coming and Im coming on a bus or in a cab or walk on or bicycle or skateboard or roller skate,..
Record THAT
