Hotchkiss Summer Guitar Camp 2016 Location: Hotchkiss Hall, 10 miles north of Manning.

Camping: available outside the Hall, $90/week without power or $120/week with power (first come, first served).

Campers (& any guests) must be 18 years of age to stay unsupervised at the hall camping area.

Condy Meadows Golf Course Camping: pre-reg sites with water/power, 1/2 mile from the Hall (836-2176).

Camp Begins Sunday, July 3rd. More info to follow by email. On the first day there will be activities and

demonstrations & students will select their lesson groups for the week.

Welcome Barbeque will be hosted Sunday at 5 pm - hotdogs, drinks and desert will be supplied. Please

bring a “finger food” to share.

Camp ends Saturday, July 9th with clean up and a closing prayer circle. The Cars & Guitars Music Festival

at Hotchkiss will be held on this day.

Please bring your meals and snacks. A small canteen is available for snacks/drinks/ice cream treats. Tal-

ent Show - Friday at 7:00 pm… this is a good evening to invite guests/family.

Other evening activities: optional recording, swimming n/c (Manning Pool), movie n/c (Aurora Theatre 2011)!

Instruction Team, Registration Information

Instructors: A team of up to 21 instructors will provide instruction in guitar, ban-

jo, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, bass and vocal harmony in group settings. The ma-

jority of classes focus on acoustic guitar but there will be small group lessons on

many other instruments/areas as noted above. Electric/rock guitar lessons are

offered each day as well. Our feature instructors will be Greg Loewen from Val-

leyview, Ron Mercer from Edmonton, and Tom Richardson from Melbourne,

Australia. All have proven to be passionate, patient, popular and proficient in

many instruments and styles of music! As well, we have up to 18 other skilled,

versatile instructors on our team.

Please register early! Only those registrations that have been submitted with a

cheque (post date your cheque for May 1, 2016) are considered “confirmed.”

Please note—there is no charge for cancellations before May 1st. After May 1st

there is a $60 cancellation fee. After June 25, there is no refund provided.

Please bring: guitar and/or other instruments, spare set of strings, a few

pencils & and lots of good-natured enthusiasm! An electric tuner is also a good

idea if you have one. Optional: your own music stand.

Preliminary Waiver I will be signing a second waiver at the camp on July 3, 2016. This initial waiver states that I hereby re-lease the staff and associates of Manning Summer Guitar Camp 2016 for the responsibility of any acci-dent or illness for myself/my child during the period of July 3-9, 2015.

How does it work at this camp?

Chording, strumming, finger picking and vocal

harmony classes are held as assemblies. Many

classes are offered at different levels. No experi-

ence required and you do not have to read mu-

sic to attend! You can be a beginner, intermedi-

ate or advanced musician and still find classes

that will be at your level! There will also be spe-

cialized workshops, morning prayer, and a

whole bunch of other fun, collaborative activi-

ties. Our participants give our camp stellar

reviews……..! We work hard to provide you

with a fun and exciting week that builds you

up both musically and as a person!

Sessions on mandolin, banjo, rock guitar, elec-

tric bass, ukulele, fiddle, vocal harmony are of-

ten incorporated into the program. Bring your

instruments!

What kind of music will we play?

Music will include a variety of folk, golden oldies,

rock, bluegrass, sacred, and popular songs. We

like the same music you like!

How can I help out?

There are many volunteer opportunities that you

will hear about via email. We welcome your help!
